NORTH AMERICA – Fedrigoni Self-Adhesives North America has expanded its portfolio of BS5609-certified materials with the launch of Kimdura Inkjet TW (PD50MG651), an advanced HDPE-based white film designed for pigment inkjet platforms.
This innovation aims to meet the stringent durability standards required for labeling hazardous goods in harsh environments, particularly maritime conditions.
The new material features a 4.5 mil HDPE white film construction, P50 aggressive acrylic adhesive, and a 50# liner, offering enhanced adhesion and durability.
Engineered for high-performance printing, Kimdura Inkjet TW dries instantly upon printing and offers superior resistance to water, chemicals, and solvents, key attributes for compliance with BS5609 Section 2, a British Standard that certifies label survival after prolonged saltwater immersion.
“BS5609 Section 2 certification requires labels to withstand three months submerged in the saltwater conditions of the English Channel,” said Melissa Harton, Marketing Manager at Fedrigoni Self-Adhesives North America.
“Fedrigoni is proud to offer an expanded selection of BS5609 products to converters who need to meet these rigorous requirements.”
This launch adds to Fedrigoni’s existing BS5609-certified offerings, which include, PD37AX551 – a 7 mil Teslin film with P50 adhesive and 3.2 mil LF liner and PD50NC651 – a 3.3 mil matte white inkjet polypropylene film with P50 and 50# liner.
The expanded lineup allows converters greater flexibility in selecting calipers and film types based on application needs.
Kimdura Inkjet TW, manufactured as a no-trim item in North Carolina, is especially suitable for labeling chemical drums, industrial containers, and shipping materials requiring robust and compliant identification.
This move reflects Fedrigoni’s continued commitment to offering technically advanced, compliant labeling solutions for industrial and hazardous environments.
It also aligns with industry trends where regulatory compliance and environmental resilience are driving innovation in self-adhesive labeling materials.
Comparable past developments from the company include the 2022 release of high-opacity inkjet films for pharmaceutical and laboratory labeling and its 2023 global expansion of thermal transfer and direct thermal films for cold-chain logistics.
With Kimdura Inkjet TW, Fedrigoni continues to support converters and end-users in navigating complex international regulations while enhancing durability, print quality, and operational efficiency in critical labeling applications.
