Flexopolis installs second BOBST MASTER M5 press to boost production

MEXICO – Flexopolis, a leading Mexican label producer, has expanded its production capabilities by acquiring a second BOBST MASTER M5 flexographic press.

This investment reflects the company’s confidence in BOBST technology after overcoming earlier challenges with flexo printing.

The new press, a 430mm-wide machine with eight-colour UV flexo printing capabilities and the advanced PrintTutor system, offers unparalleled ease of operation and exceptional print quality.

Flexopolis’s ability to handle multiple substrates and support various inline accessories has significantly broadened Its range of applications, including the production of coupon labels and, soon, in-mold labels.

Patrícia Ruiz, CEO of Flexopolis, expressed enthusiasm for the new press, stating, “With BOBST’s special features, we’re able to explore markets like in-mold labels, which remain underdeveloped in Mexico. This is an exciting growth opportunity for us.”

Flexopolis’ operators have praised the MASTER M5 for its efficiency. Faster job changes and increased automation streamline operations.

The press delivers a 30% productivity boost compared to other machines in the company’s lineup, allowing Flexopolis to meet its customers’ stringent demands for high-quality products and unique finishes.

Environmental sustainability was also a key consideration in the investment. The MASTER M5 reduces carbon footprint by minimizing substrate and ink waste, cutting energy consumption, and lowering material waste.

The optional PrintTutor system, which automatically adjusts print registration using integrated cameras, enhances print precision and sustainability.

Ruiz added, “Our customers expect the best in register accuracy, colour fidelity, or unique finishes. The BOBST MASTER M5 allows us to deliver on these expectations while improving productivity and sustainability.”

The success of this new installation has prompted Flexopolis to consider further investments with BOBST, reinforcing a partnership built on responsiveness and technical support.

This development mirrors similar advancements in the industry. Recently, Kenya-based Platinum Packaging installed two highly automated BOBST MASTER M6 flexo presses with OneECG technology, designed to optimize production and meet evolving market demands.

Located in Nairobi, Platinum Packaging serves sectors including FMCG, pharmaceuticals, and agrochemicals.

Following a fire in 2022 that disrupted operations, the company shifted strategies, incorporating cutting-edge solutions like the BOBST NOVA RS 5003 gravure press and NOVALAM S 550 solventless laminator to regain momentum and expand its market leadership in Eastern and Central Africa.

Flexopolis and Platinum Packaging exemplify how strategic investments in advanced flexographic technology are shaping the packaging industry’s future globally.
