The company’s 94% recycled paper wine bottle will roll out at other U.S. retailers this year.

UK – Frugalpac, a UK-based leader in sustainable packaging, has launched an equity fundraising campaign aiming to raise US$6.7 million to fuel its global expansion and advance new eco-friendly products, such as a paper-based paint pot.
The initiative, hosted on the Crowdcube platform, has already attracted US$1.3 million from existing and new investors, signaling strong early support.
The company’s flagship Frugal Bottle, crafted from 94% recycled paper, boasts an 84% lower carbon footprint than traditional glass and is five times lighter.
Since its launch, over three million bottles have been produced for more than 50 brands across 27 countries, saving an estimated 1,400 metric tons of CO2.
Major retailers like Sainsbury’s, Aldi, Ocado, Target, Whole Foods Market, and 7-Eleven have embraced the product, highlighting its market traction.
Malcolm Waugh, CEO of Frugalpac, stated, “We’re offering a scalable alternative to glass that reduces emissions and supports circularity, already embraced by the drinks industry.”
He emphasized the crowdfunding campaign as a chance for investors to support a transformative technology at a pivotal moment.
Frugalpac’s business model centers on selling its proprietary Frugal Bottle Assembly Machines, with units already exported to Monterey Wine Company in the US, KinsBrae Packaging in Canada, and Mother of Pearl Vodka in Australia.
A high-speed FBAM2 model is under development to meet growing demand. The company reports significant interest from packaging firms in India, South Africa, and Europe.
Beyond bottles, Frugalpac is innovating with products like the Frugal Paint Pot, developed in collaboration with a major paint brand, and the Frugal Cup for takeaway drinks.
With US$31.8 million raised to date, Frugalpac projects revenue growth from US$2.7 million in 2024 to US$69 million by 2029, targeting a 0.58% share of the global wine and spirits bottle market, equivalent to 191 million bottles annually.
In a statement, Waugh noted that profitability is expected by mid-2026, with gross margins projected at 63%.
Recent updates indicate Frugalpac’s innovations earned the King’s Award for Innovation 2024, and its “Cardboardeaux” bottles were presented to King Charles and Queen Camilla during a state visit to France, highlighting its growing global presence.
The company continues to explore partnerships, including a recent agreement with ITC Limited in South Asia to introduce Frugal Bottles to India, further advancing its mission to decarbonize packaging.
