USA – JBM Packaging, a leading manufacturer of eco-friendly packaging solutions, has launched Hydroblox, an uncoated, water-resistant, recyclable packaging paper.
Designed to offer exceptional barrier protection against water or condensation exposure, Hydroblox boasts 200 percent higher water resistance compared to a standard 24-pound white wove paper.
The introduction of this water-resistant paper by JBM Packaging coincides with America Recycles Day on November 15, emphasizing the importance of mindful consumption and increased recycling efforts in daily life, notes Jessica Black, Director of Sales at JBM Packaging.
“Hydroblox serves this purpose by providing brands with a plastic-free option for water-resistant packaging, certified for recycling by Western Michigan University,” says Black.
Hydroblox, a proprietary packaging paper, holds FDA approval for food product use. Besides perishable items like chocolate and baked goods, it suits various applications requiring water-resistant properties.
From outdoor gear, camping equipment, personal care items, cosmetics, and art supplies to pet products, Hydroblox finds diverse applications. It’s even effective in safeguarding documents like parking tickets.
JBM offers complete customization for Hydroblox packaging, featuring different sizes, perforations, adhesives, hanging holes, and windows.
Moreover, it allows vibrant color printing, images, and messaging, ensuring the product stands out on retail shelves and provides a positive unboxing experience in e-commerce.
“Our customers across all industries seek plastic-free packaging solutions,” added Black.
“Hydroblox exemplifies JBM’s commitment to innovation, balancing stringent performance criteria with sustainability. We aim to offer quality alternatives as our customers shift away from plastic packaging.”
Hydroblox originated from customer-driven innovation, initially used as a recyclable paper cup for water coolers, fitness centers, and snacks.
Recognizing the opportunity to extend its application to other industries aiming to replace non-recyclable packaging with paper-based, recyclable solutions, JBM expanded Hydroblox’s usage.
Earlier this year, JBM Packaging unveiled EcoView™, a line of plastic-free, windowed paper packages featuring Fiberfilm™, a clear biodegradable film derived from wood and cotton-seed fibers.
Designed as an alternative to multi-material or “poly” film packages made from non-renewable sources, EcoView offers three sizes – sneak peek, partial view, and full display – providing varying yet consistently clear views of the products.
EcoView can be tailored to meet individual sustainability goals, incorporating different percentages of recycled content and a range of papers, closures, and hanging holes, making each package unique.
Leveraging JBM’s FiberFilm, a proprietary transparent film sourced from wood pulp, certified by PEFC, and meeting TÜV’s environmental regulatory standards, EcoView stands as an environmentally conscious packaging solution.
