Manter, Allround deliver two potato packing lines to Balaji Wafers, automating 50kg PP bagging

Semi-automated weighers and packers reduce physical strain, improve weight accuracy, and increase throughput.

INDIA – Manter, together with Indian partner Allround, has delivered two new potato packing lines to Balaji Wafers in Ahmedabad, featuring M2 XXL weighers and SemiPack machines that semi-automatically fill 50-kilogram PP woven bags, replacing significant manual labor.

The installation marks a further step in automation for Balaji Wafers, where significant manual work was previously required in the packing process.

The new line increases processing speed, supports consistent product quality, and reduces physical strain on employees. Automating the bagging process contributes to a more efficient overall workflow.

Grading Before Packing

An Allround Shake Grader with inspection tables feeds the Manter line, grading potatoes before packing. Potatoes under 40 mm are discharged for potato flake production used in mashed potatoes.

Potatoes larger than 40 mm are transported to the Manter line for packing in 50-kilogram PP woven bags.

The integration creates an efficient, fully integrated process, strengthening collaboration between the two companies.

Why Automation Matters

Manual bagging of 50-kilogram sacks is physically demanding, leading to employee fatigue, higher injury risk, and inconsistent bag weights.

Semi-automated weighers and packers reduce physical strain, improve weight accuracy, and increase throughput.

For a large-scale processor like Balaji Wafers, which supplies snack products across India, even small efficiency improvements translate into significant cost savings.

The Technology Behind the Line

The Manter M2 XXL weigher is designed for large-volume, heavy-duty applications, handling products that would damage conventional weighers.

The SemiPack packaging machine completes the bagging operation, filling PP woven bags with precision. The 50-kilogram bag size is standard for industrial potato supply to wafer and chip manufacturers, allowing efficient palletizing and transport.

Strengthening the India Partnership

Allround has a long history of supplying vegetable processing equipment to the Indian market. The integration of Manter’s weighers and packers with Allround’s graders creates a complete solution for potato processors.

The collaboration allows Balaji Wafers to source both grading and packing equipment from aligned suppliers, simplifying maintenance and spare parts inventory.

When Potatoes Pack Themselves

Fifty-kilogram bags of potatoes do not lift themselves.

Manual packing lines wear down employees and create bottlenecks. Manter and Allround have delivered a solution that grades, sorts, and packs, semi-automatically, consistently, and with less strain.

For Balaji Wafers, the new lines mean more potatoes processed, fewer injuries, and a packaging operation that keeps pace with production.
