Paper Arabia showcases sustainable packaging and cutting-edge paper technologies

Paper Arabia provide a vital platform for innovation and collaboration.

UAE – The 13th edition of Paper Arabia, West Asia’s leading exhibition for the paper, packaging, tissue, and nonwoven industries, opened this week at the Dubai World Trade Centre, bringing together global manufacturers, suppliers, and industry leaders to spotlight cutting-edge technologies and sustainable solutions.

Running through September 4, the three-day event features over 200 international exhibitors representing sectors such as food and beverage packaging, cosmetics, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and personal care.

Organizers expect close to 15,000 visitors from across 88 nations, reflecting Dubai’s growing role as a global hub for trade and innovation.

The exhibition comes at a time when the West Asia and Africa paper and pulp market, valued at US$22.8 billion in 2023, is projected to expand at a compound annual growth rate of 5% through 2031.

Rising demand for sustainable packaging, driven by consumer preferences and regulatory shifts, is shaping industry growth across the region.

Speaking during a panel session, Indian entrepreneur Parvesh Kapoor emphasized India’s growing importance as a reliable partner in the global paper and packaging sector.

“India offers strong resources, a robust supply base, and advanced technological investment capabilities,” Kapoor said, noting the country’s expanding role in sustainable packaging and printing innovation.

Expanding scope to nonwovens

A key addition to this year’s edition is the inclusion of nonwoven industry exhibitors, covering applications in hygiene, medical, and automotive sectors.

This reflects the industry’s shift toward diversified, eco-friendly materials and innovative alternatives to plastics.

Live demonstrations of advanced machinery are another highlight, with exhibitors showcasing energy-efficient production technologies, recycling solutions, and biodegradable materials.

Many of these align with regional government initiatives, including the UAE’s Green Economy Strategy and the wider Gulf region’s push toward Net Zero targets.

Middle East paper and tissue forum

Complementing the exhibition, the Middle East Paper and Tissue Forum features two days of expert-led conferences tackling pressing issues such as waste management, recycling, and greenhouse gas reduction strategies.

These discussions reinforce the sector’s role in supporting the region’s climate commitments and advancing circular economy practices.

With participation from over 14 countries, Paper Arabia continues to provide a vital platform for innovation and collaboration.

By drawing global players to Dubai, the event not only strengthens the city’s position as a leading commerce hub but also aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which aims to place Dubai among the world’s top three economic cities by 2033.
