Sidel continues to lead in helping global and regional manufacturers improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance sustainability across production lines.

AFRICA — Global packaging solutions leader Sidel has reinforced its long-term commitment to advancing Africa’s industrial packaging landscape with the opening of a new regional office in Phoenix, Ikeja (Lagos), Nigeria.
The launch, marked by a seminar themed “Driving Packaging Innovation and Sustainability for Tomorrow,” underscores Sidel’s focus on delivering cutting-edge technologies and sustainable solutions tailored to the region’s fast-growing markets.
The event brought together key customers, partners, and stakeholders from across West Africa to discuss strategies for sustainable packaging transformation.
Sessions explored solutions for PET, can, and glass formats, optimizing total cost of ownership, and boosting line efficiency through Sidel’s advanced automation and service capabilities.
The discussions also tackled how manufacturers can adapt packaging technologies to the unique logistics and climate challenges of West Africa.
“West Africa is a growth engine for Africa’s beverage and packaging industries. Our new base in Lagos allows us to be closer to customers, helping them innovate and grow with efficient, sustainable solutions,” said Clive Smith, Executive Vice President, AOA (Africa, Oceania & Asia) at Sidel.
Sidel CEO, Pietro Cassani, added that Lagos’ dynamic industrial ecosystem and strong talent base made it a natural choice for expansion.
“We’ve already established trusted partnerships with companies such as StrongPack in Nigeria and Twellium in Ghana, delivering advanced PET, can, and glass production and labelling lines,” he said.
“This new hub strengthens our ability to serve customers faster and support their transition toward sustainable packaging.”
The Lagos office is Sidel’s third in Africa, after its locations in South Africa and Nairobi, and will serve as a critical node for customer service, technical support, and innovation in Nigeria and neighbouring markets.
With over 175 years of experience, more than 40,000 machines installed in 170+ countries, and a workforce of 5,000 employees worldwide, Sidel continues to lead in helping global and regional manufacturers improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance sustainability across production lines.
The company’s expansion comes as other major packaging players, including Krones and Tetra Pak, also deepen their African presence to meet growing demand for localized, energy-efficient, and circular packaging systems.
Together, these investments signal a new phase of industrial transformation aimed at future-proofing Africa’s food, beverage, and personal care packaging sectors.
