UK – Corrugated packaging manufacturer Cepac Group has acquired specialist sustainable corrugated tray producer EW Cartons, for an undisclosed fee.
Following the acquisition, EW Cartons is now being rebranded under Flutepac with Adam Clifton, the previous owner, remaining a shareholder and being appointed general manager.
“We are delighted to welcome Adam and the team of EW Cartons to the Cepac Group,” said Steve Moss managing director of Cepac.
“We have ambitious plans for the Flutepac business, which will include new machinery, new offerings and at all times, best-in-class service.”
Based in Accrington, Flutepac provides corrugated boxes, packing tape, bubble wrap and corrugated rolls for fresh produce, bakery items and ready meals thus products can be barrier-coated, greaseproof, moisture-resistant and leak-proof.
With a wide range of available coatings, Flutepac’s products can be barrier-coated, grease-proof, moisture resistant and leak-proof. The company also offers a range of food trays that can be placed straight into the oven.
Moss added: “As innovators and manufacturers of food tray packaging, Flutepac is now positioned as one of the UK’s most dynamic suppliers of micro flute corrugated packaging solutions as part of Cepac Group.
“Thanks to in-house corrugator equipment combined with innovative coating technologies, as well as a range of print options, customers serviced by Flutepac will benefit from using the most sustainable, biodegradable, compostable and recyclable food packaging available in the UK market and beyond.”
The company has said that it will continue investing in additional equipment over the coming months to optimize operations.
Meanwhile, in October last year, Cepac invested in a Koenig & Bauer ChromaCUT X Pro high board line flexo rotary die-cutter.
The machine, which K&B said was the first of its kind in the UK, has been installed at the company’s Rawcliffe Bridge facility in Yorkshire.
According to Cepac, the high board line rotary die-cutter will boost productivity for the corrugated packaging specialist.
Moss at the time said: “After extensive discussions, a virtual live demonstration of the ChromaCUT X Pro and a tour of a pre-existing installation won our full confidence, we took the decision to invest in the machinery made by Koenig & Bauer.
“Koenig & Bauer shares our innovative focus and the ChromaCUT X Pro will allow us to raise the possibilities for our customers to a whole new level.”
