USA – American flexible packaging and material science company ProAmpac has expanded the ProActive Recyclable series of products with the launch of ProActive Recyclable Paper-1000.
ProAmpac says Recyclable Paper (RP)-1000 is the first product launched in a series of new kerbside recyclable paper-based packaging solutions that are heat-sealable.
Adam Grose, chief commercial officer for ProAmpac said: “Designed to run efficiently on existing filling equipment, ProActive Recyclable RP-1000 delivers high-performance while also being easy for consumers to recycle at home.
“Brands are demanding more paper-based sustainable packaging solutions. RP-1000 fulfills ProAmpac’s promise to deliver sustainable products while not sacrificing performance.”
RP-1000 is claimed to have good moisture barrier and directional tear properties and can be used as a substitute for non-sustainable, multi-material laminates.
ProAmpac’s RP-1000 series can be used for frozen food applications such as ready-to-eat meals and vegetables.
In addition, they are suitable for packing some dry foods and as secondary packaging for confectionery.
The packaging is pre-qualified for kerbside recycling and is recyclable in both paper and mixed streams.
RP-1000 is available in rollstock, stand-up and three-side seal pouch formats. It has both natural kraft and bleached options to enable customization.
ProAmpac product development and innovation global vice-president Hesam Tabatabaei added: “Our kerbside-recyclable RP-1000 series has optimum stiffness for enhanced shelf appearance, very good moisture barrier for dry products and is designed to withstand freezer conditions.
“In addition, its premium sealant technology allows it to run on high-speed form-fill-seal equipment.”
Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, ProAmpac provides flexible packaging for companies in a range of industries worldwide.
In November last year, the company partnered with tray sealing machine manufacturer JBT Proseal to launch an in-line sandwich packaging testing lab.
The lab is located at ProAmpac’s Collaboration & Innovation Center (CIC) and is claimed to be the first of its kind in North America.
It is equipped with Proseal’s GTSV, a modified atmosphere in-line carton sandwich wedge erecting and sealing machine.
Designed to form and seal fresh sandwich packaging, Proseal’s GTSV machine will be used to optimize packaging design while allowing customers to run trials on new packaging formats without disrupting commercial production operations.
