KM Packaging introduces K-Peel 4G, a new mono PET lidding film specification

With a dwell time of 0.3 seconds, clean peels can be achieved from as low temperatures as 110°C.

UK – British flexible packaging company KM Packaging proudly presents K-Peel 4G, a groundbreaking mono polyethylene terephthalate (PET) lidding film specification that is set to revolutionise the industry.

K-Peel 4G, our latest innovation, boasts a unique combination of a low seal initiation point and the ability to seal through contamination, setting it apart from other lidding films.

With a dwell time of 0.3 seconds, clean peels can be achieved from as minor as 110°C.

The film’s compatibility with all PET trays makes it appealing for both recycled PET and amorphous PET trays.

K-Peel 4G is a versatile solution that excels in challenging situations, whether it’s due to thickness or available sealing area, providing you with peace of mind in any application.

Additionally, K-Peel 4G is reportedly suitable for ambient, chilled or, frozen, and oven applications.

Not only does it possess anti-fog properties, but it also adheres to OM7 migration testing, making it suitable for use across various segments of the food industry.

K-Peel 4 G is available in both 21-micron and 25-micron gauges, providing manufacturers with options to suit their specific production needs.

To enhance operational efficiency, manufacturers can use a 21-micron gauge to minimise thickness during production.

Alan Lockhart, Commercial Director – UK & Eire, said, “We’re pleased to be able to launch this new material into the marketplace. The advantages of a low seal imitation temperature means K-Peel 4G has a broad range of lidding applications across the industry. The adaptability of 4G is what sets it apart from the rest.”

“Whilst the impact of EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) and RAM (Recyclability Assessment Methodology) may question the cost impact on PET-based films, ultimately their efficiency, low weight, ovenability and ease of use prove that they still have a relevant and valuable place in the tray-sealing and lidding film arena.”

In 2020, KM Packaging introduced sustainable lidding films in the Australian market.

The new portfolio is claimed to assist customers in fulfilling their commitments to the National Packaging Targets, which are overseen by the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO).

KM Packaging is not just a REDcycle partner and a member of APCO but a dedicated advocate for sustainability. An organisation committed to achieving the 2025 National Packaging Targets, which aims to use only 100% reusable, recyclable, or compostable packaging, and inspire others to join in this vital mission.
