GERMANY – Sustainable packaging and paper leader Mondi has teamed up with European kraft paper impregnator Hans Schmid to supply its high-performance Ad/Vantage Boost saturated kraft paper for the furniture and flooring industry.
The partnership aims to meet the growing demands of the European market for durable, resin-impregnated paper—an essential material in manufacturing laminated surfaces.
Hans Schmid uses Mondi’s Ad/Vantage Boost to create premium laminates for a wide range of applications, including flooring, kitchen countertops, and other decorative surfaces. This collaboration is built on a foundation of trust, transparency, and shared innovation goals.
“Our collaboration with Mondi is built on trust and transparency,” said Björn Lüftner, Commercial Director at Hans Schmid.
“We greatly value Mondi’s technical expertise and are working closely to expand into new markets and continuously refine our product offerings. Mondi is not just a supplier to us—they are a long-term strategic partner for the decades ahead.”
Ad/Vantage Boost is engineered for superior strength and absorbency. It acts as a carrier for resin in laminate production. During manufacturing, the paper is impregnated with resin and then pressed under heat to form strong, durable layers.
It is made from unbleached, fresh, long fibres sourced from sustainably managed forests in Sweden and Austria.
The paper is also available with Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) credentials.
Ad/Vantage Boost is produced at Mondi’s Frantschach mill in Austria and Dynäs mill in Sweden to ensure reliable supply and fast delivery across Europe.
This dual-location strategy enables consistent availability, shorter lead times, and dependable production backup.
“High-end base saturating kraft papers are essential to the European laminates industry, where efficiency, reliability, and quality are paramount,” said Alexander Baars, International Sales Manager at Mondi.
“Our long-standing partnership with Hans Schmid, coupled with our scalable production capacity, allows us to meet the needs of both current and future customers.”
In a related innovation, Mondi has also launched the re/cycle SpoutedPouch, a sustainable paint packaging solution developed in collaboration with Sherwin-Williams.
Produced at Mondi’s Halle/Steinfeld plant in Germany, the monomaterial polyethylene (PE) pouch features a widened spout for easier filling and pouring and aims to replace five-litre rigid plastic tubs.
The 950ml pouch encourages consumers to reuse their existing tubs by offering clear mixing instructions.
After use, the lightweight pouch can be resealed to preserve leftover concentrate and is designed for recycling—offering a practical and eco-friendly option for outdoor painting projects.
