This move reduces plastic usage while maintaining product freshness and shelf appeal.

USA – ProAmpac, a leader in flexible packaging, has joined forces with Galway-based Divilly Brothers to introduce ProActive Recyclable FibreSculpt packaging for Ireland’s chilled cooked meats market.
The fibre-based, high-barrier solution is designed for thermoforming applications, catering to products like chilled meats, sliced cheese, and fish.
With over 90% fibre content, the packaging complies with On-Pack Recycling Label (OPRL) guidelines, making it kerbside recyclable in the UK and Ireland.
Divilly Brothers, known for its premium cooked and sliced meats, will launch its new no-added-nitrite ham range in this sustainable packaging.
According to the company, this move reduces plastic usage while maintaining product freshness and shelf appeal.
Peter Divilly, managing director of Divilly Brothers, emphasized that the partnership allows them to prioritize quality and environmental responsibility, ensuring the high standards their customers expect are met.
The FibreSculpt packaging offers operational efficiency and extended shelf life without sacrificing recyclability, according to ProAmpac’s product development engineer Adam West.
He noted that the technology balances performance with consumer appeal, making it a practical choice for brands aiming to meet sustainability goals.
The packaging’s lightweight design and ability to be printed in up to eight colors further enhance its market presence.
In a related development, ProAmpac showcased its commitment to sustainable innovation at Packaging Innovations 2025, held February 12-13 in Birmingham, UK.
The company displayed its recyclable film and fibre-based solutions, including FibreSculpt, at Booth L80, engaging attendees on how these products support a circular economy.
Additionally, in June 2025, ProAmpac collaborated with Western Michigan University to advance fibre-based packaging solutions, further expanding its sustainable offerings.
A separate partnership with ScottsMiracle-Gro introduced a spouted pouch for Ortho Home Defense Max, valued at approximately US$10 million in development, highlighting ProAmpac’s diverse approach to eco-friendly packaging.
This collaboration marks a significant step for Divilly Brothers in reducing environmental impact while delivering high-quality meat products.
The FibreSculpt packaging not only meets consumer demand for renewable materials but also supports brands in achieving tangible sustainability targets.
As the industry shifts toward greener solutions, such innovations are expected to gain traction in global markets, particularly in regions prioritizing recyclability and reduced plastic use.
