IRELAND – Smurfit Kappa, a leading provider of paper-based packaging solutions, has introduced honeycomb packaging tailored for the automotive sector.
Known as Hexacomb packaging, it is crafted to be lightweight and sturdy, providing both compression resilience and shock absorption.
This innovative packaging solution aims to offer protection and support for automotive components during transportation and storage.
The automotive industry, facing increased scrutiny for environmental sustainability, is prioritizing eco-friendly packaging.
Smurfit Kappa’s honeycomb packaging, renowned for strength and durability, aligns well with these objectives.

Smurfit Kappa excels with 12 WorldStar awards
In another development, Smurfit Kappa has clinched an impressive 12 WorldStar awards, surpassing all competition in this year’s prestigious global packaging accolades.
This noteworthy achievement underscores Smurfit Kappa’s steadfast dedication to crafting innovative, creative, and sustainable solutions for its clientele.

Arco Berkenbosch, CIO at Smurfit Kappa, expressed delight at the company’s success, emphasising the role of its extensive design collection, “We are thrilled to have come out top at these highly respected and global awards.
“Over the years, we have built up a collection of over 8,000 designs on our Innobook tool which our design teams can draw on for inspiration. This has really helped to foster a culture of creativity and raise the bar internally.”
