Taki2Go unveils smart sanitization for reusable foodservice packaging

The system removes expensive reverse logistics, making real-time reuse possible directly where meals are served

USA – Taki2Go, a Los Angeles-based innovator, has introduced a reusable food container system with on-site smart sanitization to replace single-use packaging.

According to Ravyn Williams, founder of Taki2Go, this plug-and-play solution eliminates costly reverse logistics, enabling real-time reuse in settings like hospitals, schools, and corporate campuses.

Williams, a cardiac electrophysiology physician assistant, emphasized the system’s scalability.

“Taki2Go is built for scale from the ground up, integrating seamlessly with fast-casual restaurants, schools, and corporate dining,” she said.

The modular design requires minimal infrastructure changes, making it adaptable to various institutions.

The system is projected to cut packaging costs by up to 30% compared to single-use options, with a quick break-even point for high-volume locations.

It also supports compliance with waste reduction laws like California’s SB 1383 and SB 54.

Williams noted that the system’s design addresses environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals, reducing both financial and environmental liabilities.

“Our protocol mirrors medical sterilization standards, focusing on time, temperature, and tracking,” Williams explained.

Third-party lab tests are underway to ensure compliance with FDA food contact safety requirements and stringent institutional regulations, prioritizing trust and safety.

Unlike traditional reusable systems, Taki2Go’s on-site sanitization eliminates offsite washing and redistribution.

There’s no hauling containers back and forth,” Williams said, highlighting how this reduces costs and carbon emissions. The system supports real-time reuse at the point of service, streamlining operations for businesses.

Taki2Go is in prelaunch discussions with Fortune 500 companies, major food chains, a large hospital system, and the second-largest U.S. school district.

A report by industry analysts indicates the reusable foodservice packaging market is expected to reach US$43.64 billion in 2025, driven by regulatory pressures and corporate sustainability goals.

For instance, a major coffee chain’s 2025 in-store refill program has demonstrated success in eliminating single-use cups, using smartchip-enabled containers to track usage and reward customers.

Taki2Go’s model aligns with this trend, offering a scalable solution for institutions aiming to meet sustainability targets without overhauling supply chains.

Williams expressed confidence in Taki2Go’s market readiness.

“The market demands leadership, and we’re prepared to deliver,” she stated.

With pilot programs and partnerships on the horizon, Taki2Go is poised to transform foodservice packaging by combining innovation, sanitation, and sustainability.
