Anuga FoodTech 2024: Milkron unveils advanced membrane filtration systems

GERMANY – At Anuga FoodTec in Cologne, Milkron, a subsidiary of Krones, unveils its latest membrane filtration systems, poised to revolutionize various food processing applications.

These advanced systems are engineered to handle a wide spectrum of products, ranging from traditional dairy items to emerging plant-based alternatives, including ketchup, dressings, fruit preparations, soft drinks, and juices.

Equipped with modules for microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, and reverse osmosis, these systems offer unparalleled versatility and reliability in processing capabilities.

Lars-Bo Fredsted, key account manager for Filtration at Milkron, elaborates on the intricacies of the technology, highlighting the distinct advantages of different filtration methods.

Milkron’s membrane filtration systems stand out for their adaptability, integrating ceramic, spiral-wound, and capillary membranes developed using patented Krones Group technology, ensuring optimal efficiency.

Moreover, these systems are designed to enhance productivity while minimizing energy and water consumption through precise control mechanisms during filtration and cleaning processes.

Beyond dairy products, Milkron’s solutions extend to alternative foods, including plant-based proteins and fermentation-derived products, catering to evolving industry demands with tailored solutions for substance concentration and fractionation.

Backed by a team with over 35 years of industry expertise and leveraging synergies within the Krones Group, Milkron delivers cutting-edge solutions that optimize production processes and elevate product quality.

Fredsted emphasizes Milkron’s commitment to providing end-to-end solutions, enabled by the strategic integration of filtration expertise within the Krones Group.

Benefiting from access to KIC Krones, a subsidiary specializing in consumables, Milkron offers comprehensive support, including a range of filter media and consumables tailored to membrane filtration systems’ needs.

With filtration playing a pivotal role in concentration and wastewater recovery, Milkron’s solutions align with Krones’ sustainability targets, attracting increased interest from industries seeking to enhance efficiency and product quality while reducing environmental impact.

In addition to Milkron’s groundbreaking innovation, Krones unveiled a spectrum of solutions from its subsidiaries, including Steinecker, HST, and Evoguard.

A notable highlight is the Steinecker bioreactor, designed for biotechnological production of alternative foods through precision fermentation or biomass production.

This pioneering concept made its debut at the latest edition of BrauBeviale towards the end of the previous year.

Throughout the four-day event, Krones featured an array of process technology solutions. These span from Milkron’s expertise in plant planning and engineering for milk and dairy products to HST’s HLI90 high-pressure homogenizer and Krones’ VarioAsept D direct heating system.

Additionally, attendees explored the extensive portfolio of pumps and valves offered by Evoguard and Ampco, suitable for both conventional and aseptic applications.

Of particular note is LitePac Top, hailed as one of the most sustainable packaging concepts available for PET containers and cans.
