UK – English papermaking company, James Cropper has named Richard Bracewell as the managing director for its Paper Products division.

In his new role, Bracewell will lead strategic growth in the paper products segment by uniting the company’s Speciality Paper business with molded pulp luxury packaging innovation Colourform.

James Cropper CEO Steve Adams added: “We are thrilled to welcome Richard Bracewell as our new managing director for Paper Products. His leadership, expertise, and deep understanding of our business will undoubtedly drive us towards greater achievements.”

Bracewell started working at James Cropper in 2017 as the marketing director for the Speciality Paper business before changing roles as business transformation lead for the segment.

He is said to have played a key role in repositioning the business for long-term differentiation within the market.

Bracewell said: “I’m delighted to have been asked to lead James Cropper’s Paper Products business and to continue to build upon our unique and significant capabilities as a leading innovator in the creative papers and luxury packaging sectors.

“The changes that we are making within the business, will help us to accelerate our growth strategy in the manufacturing of bespoke papers and molded fiber packaging, ensuring that we continue to provide our customers with the highest quality products and solutions.”

Last month, the business launched a line of recycled paper made from 20% used denim fibers and 80% recycled fibers from coffee cups.

Branded as Rydal Apparel, the cotton-based paper may be recycled in common waste streams, potentially giving the fiber a third and fourth life.

Aquapak Polymers names sales director

Birmingham-based specialty polymers business, Aquapak has appointed Dudley Jones as the new sales director.

Jones has over 30 years of flexible packaging experience, and in his new role, he will promote end applications for Aquapak Polymers’ polymer, Hydropol.

Jones said: “Aquapak has developed a unique technology in Hydropol, which is recyclable, marine safe, does not form microplastics and can deliver barrier and functionality to paper.

“This makes the potential applications for Hydropol far-reaching and very exciting. From beverages and confectionery to personal care and home improvements, Aquapak’s technology has the potential to transform flexible packaging as we know it.”

He will concentrate on promoting end applications for Hydropol, a high-performance polymer that enables product design to provide its much-needed functionality, while increasing recycling and reducing plastic pollution, with a focus on paper and barrier applications through extrusion coating, casting or lamination onto other materials.

Mark Lapping, chief executive officer at Aquapak, added: “Dudley is joining Aquapak at a time when the demand for new, environmentally friendly but functional packaging is huge.

“There are many market segments where Hydropol can provide end-customers with a solution which isn’t available today and help them improve their environmental footprint without compromising product quality or the end-user experience.”
