The center in India is an important milestone that supports Archroma Packaging Technologies’ commitment to building a sustainable future

USA – Archroma Packaging Technologies marked a key expansion in its operations by inaugurating three new Global Centers of Innovation across India, Spain, and the United States.
These facilities target advancements in sustainable materials for flexible packaging, wood, tape and label, fiber, and board sectors, supporting the company’s push toward eco-friendly solutions in fast-growing markets.
The initial center in Mumbai, India, commenced operations on September 5, 2025.
This site features specialized equipment tailored for flexible packaging and wood applications, primarily serving clients in the Asia Pacific region.
Dinakar Gnanamgari, vice president of innovation and portfolio expansion at Archroma, noted that the Mumbai hub would deliver sustainable options and added value to key end markets.
He emphasized its role in partnering closely with regional application centers to meet evolving demands.
Just over a week later, on September 17, 2025, Archroma unveiled its second center in Prat, Spain.
Equipped with cutting-edge laboratories, this location concentrates on tape and label technologies, enabling the creation of advanced packaging prototypes that prioritize recyclability and reduced environmental impact.
The facility supports European manufacturers seeking compliant materials amid tightening regulations on single-use plastics.
The third center, set to open in Charlotte, North Carolina, later this year, will address fiber and board packaging alongside biomaterial developments.
Situated in a hub for North American industry, it aims to accelerate testing and commercialization of plant-based alternatives to traditional substrates.
These openings come at a time when global demand for low-carbon packaging surges, with the sector projected to grow by 6.5% annually through 2030, according to industry analysts.
Gnanamgari highlighted the strategic value of these sites, stating they would expand Archroma’s reach while fostering development of future technologies.
He expressed pride in the ongoing investments that enable growth alongside international customers.
Recent developments in the Middle East and Africa underscore similar momentum in sustainable packaging.
For instance, a new recycling initiative launched by a regional consortium in early September 2025 aims to process 50,000 tons of flexible waste annually using AI-driven sorting, valued at US$15 million in initial funding.
This effort complements global expansions like Archroma’s by enhancing supply chain circularity.
By placing these centers in high-potential areas, Archroma gains direct insights into local trends and client requirements, facilitating quicker adaptations to sustainability goals.
