The partnership focuses on decentralized waste management at the ward office level.
INDIA – Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd. has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) as part of a strategic collaboration to advance its ‘Bottles for Change’ initiative.
The partnership, under PCMC’s ‘Zero Waste Management through CSR Program,’ focuses on decentralized waste management at the ward office level, aiming to build a sustainable framework for plastic and solid waste handling.
The MoU was officially exchanged by Mr. Shekhar Singh (I.A.S.), Commissioner of PCMC; Mr. Nilkanth Poman, Chief IT Officer & Head of CSR; Mr. Sachin Pawar, Deputy Commissioner (Health Department); and Mr. K. Ganesh, Director – Sustainability & Corporate Affairs at Bisleri International.
This three-year partnership represents a significant step in addressing urban plastic waste through community engagement, infrastructure support, and corporate social responsibility.
As part of the initiative, Bisleri will support the development of a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) within PCMC, targeting the collection and recycling of approximately 360 metric tonnes of used plastic annually.
Speaking on the partnership, K. Ganesh of Bisleri International said, “Our collaboration with PCMC underscores the power of collective action in achieving sustainable change. By promoting source segregation and establishing effective collection mechanisms, we can divert substantial plastic waste from landfills and move closer to a circular economy.
“This partnership marks a crucial milestone in our mission to create long-term environmental impact through Bottles for Change.”
Mr. Nilkanth Poman, CSR Head at PCMC, emphasized the program’s grassroots impact, “True progress lies in inclusive and sustainable development.
“Through this collaboration with Bisleri, we aim to equip communities with the knowledge and tools to manage waste responsibly—building cleaner neighborhoods, improving public health, and fostering environmental stewardship from the ground up.”
Commissioner Shekhar Singh echoed these sentiments, stating, “This partnership with Bisleri for the Zero Waste Slum Project represents a major leap toward responsible urban waste management.
“By targeting slum areas and involving all eight municipal zones, we aim to build a zero-waste model that can be replicated across cities. It’s a step toward a healthier, greener future for all residents.”
The collaboration reflects Bisleri’s ongoing commitment to sustainability. Through ‘Bottles for Change’, the company not only promotes plastic recycling but also aims to reshape public perception around PET bottles—positioning them as recyclable resources rather than waste.
The initiative continues to drive awareness, encourage responsible plastic disposal, and build a model for circular economy practices in urban India.
