USA – Chlorophyll Water is making strides in sustainability by introducing new beverage bottles made from 100% recycled plastic (rPET) in the USA, featuring Avery Dennison’s CleanFlake label technology.

This innovative adhesive deactivates during recycling, ensuring labels and adhesive separate cleanly from the bottles, facilitating the recycling process.

Notably, Chlorophyll Water is the first bottled water in the US to receive the Clean Label Project certification, demonstrating its commitment to consumer safety and environmental responsibility.

Founder of Chlorophyll Water, Matt Levine, emphasizes the brand’s dedication to sustainability and technological innovation in reducing its environmental footprint.

The bottles, crafted from food-grade rPET, adhere to stringent standards set by the US FDA and European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) for food-grade recycled material.

CleanFlake technology further enhances the recycling process by ensuring the labels are cleanly separated, resulting in high-quality rPET flakes.

Meanwhile, in Canada, FIJI Water is making significant strides toward sustainability by transitioning its popular 500 mL and 330 mL bottles to 100% recycled plastic (rPET) starting Winter 2023.

This initiative aims to reduce plastic waste and aligns with FIJI Water’s commitment to transitioning its entire bottle portfolio to rPET by 2025.

Vice President of International at FIJI Water, Wai Mei Lee, emphasizes the company’s dedication to making a meaningful environmental impact while maintaining product quality.

In addition to adopting rPET bottles, FIJI Water is investing in energy efficiency initiatives in Fiji, including microturbine energy generation and low-sulphur fuel standards for shipping, to reduce sulphur oxide emissions.

The FIJI Water Foundation focuses on sustainability and community support in Fiji, providing access to clean water, healthcare, and educational grants. Since 2007, the foundation has funded reforestation and conservation efforts in partnership with Conservation International to preserve Fiji’s vital ecosystems.

As a division of The Wonderful Company, FIJI Water aligns with its parent company’s broad commitment to sustainability.

The Wonderful Company, along with co-owners Stewart and Lynda Resnick, has invested significantly in environmental sustainability initiatives, including substantial contributions to research institutions for sustainability research.

Additionally, The Wonderful Company has joined RE100, a global initiative committing to using 100% renewable energy, further demonstrating its commitment to combating climate change.
