FRANCE – French beauty packaging innovator Cosmogen has partnered with men’s skincare brand Horace to develop a post-consumer recycled (PCR) PET stick for the brand’s latest lip balm.
The solution combines sustainability with refined aesthetics and functionality, aligning with both companies’ commitments to responsible beauty innovation.
The eco-conscious stick is part of Cosmogen’s customizable range of mono-material PET and recycled PET (rPET) packaging, suitable for wax-based and anhydrous formulations such as lip balms, concealers, and sunscreen products.
The 3.7 g lip balm case, finished in sleek black with selective varnish, is available in both round and square formats in various heights, offering versatility for future product lines.
Cosmogen says the stick was designed to maintain technical performance while supporting circularity principles.
The mono-material structure allows for easy dismantling, recycling, and refilling, consistent with the company’s “reduce, reuse, and recycle” ethos.
“This results in packs and applicators that can be dismantled, recycled, refilled, and made of recycled material,” Cosmogen stated, adding that its teams are trained in eco-design and CSR innovation, supported by in-house software for life cycle analysis of each product.
Horace previously collaborated with Cosmogen on its Hydrating Eye Contour, which features the company’s patented Tense tube, a refillable applicator equipped with a metallic tip designed for hygienic, reusable application.
A mission-led approach to packaging
Since 2022, Cosmogen has operated under France’s “Société à mission” legal status, formalizing its dedication to developing safe, sustainable, and socially responsible packaging solutions.
The company’s expanding portfolio now includes PET and rPET compacts, makeup brushes, kabukis, and portable roller applicators for skincare and makeup.
In line with market demand for eco-friendly beauty formats, Cosmogen recently introduced an aluminum brush set and a makeup refill stick, demonstrating its focus on modular, refillable, and recyclable components across product categories.
Cosmogen’s collaboration with Horace follows broader industry efforts to decarbonize beauty packaging.
Brands such as L’Oréal, Nuxe, and The Body Shop have also adopted PCR plastics and refillable systems in recent launches, underscoring a global pivot toward circular design and low-impact materials in personal care packaging.
With the new rPET stick, Cosmogen strengthens its position as a frontrunner in sustainable packaging innovation for the modern grooming and cosmetics market.
