The new line will set standards for efficiency and productivity, delivering higher output at lower production costs.

INDIA – Dhunseri Poly Films Private Limited has placed an order with Brückner Maschinenbau for the world’s fastest biaxially oriented polyester (BOPET) film production line, marking a major step in India’s rapidly expanding flexible packaging industry.
The new line, to be installed at Dhunseri’s Panagarh facility in West Bengal, is engineered for a continuous production speed of 700 m/min, setting a global benchmark for output and efficiency.
The investment builds on Dhunseri’s successful commissioning of its first Brückner BOPET line in 2023.
“We want to be fully prepared for the anticipated growth in our industry,” said C.K. Dhanuka, chairman of Dhunseri Ventures.
“Following the successful start-up of our first BOPET line in 2023, we are excited to continue working closely with Brückner on this new project.”
Brückner confirms this milestone is unprecedented. “This is the world’s first BOPET line designed for a production speed of 700 m/min,” stated Johann Kreilinger, head of sales for the Middle East, Subcontinent and Africa.
“Together we are setting a new benchmark in efficiency, productivity and cost competitiveness.”
The newly ordered line incorporates Brückner’s most advanced technologies, allowing Dhunseri to deliver higher output with reduced energy consumption and lower overall production costs.
The company’s first line already features a multi-gap machine direction orienter (MDO) for high-temperature stretching and the FOK 8.8 sliding chain track system, technology that ensures high-speed operation with minimized wear and maintenance.
The 700 m/min line extends these capabilities, enabling Dhunseri to produce a wider range of high-quality BOPET films for applications spanning food packaging, industrial laminates, labels and specialty films.
Industry backdrop: robust growth and consolidation
Demand for BOPET films in India continues to climb, driven by higher consumption of packaged foods, rising adoption of recyclable mono-material structures and rapid investments in domestic converting capacity.
Indian producers have been scaling up aggressively to meet local and export demand, with several major players adding new BOPET and BOPP lines over the past two years.
Dhunseri Ventures, which operates plants in India and Egypt and maintains a 50:50 joint venture with Indorama Ventures for PET resin production, has been expanding into downstream film manufacturing since establishing Dhunseri Poly Films in 2020.
The new high-speed line positions the company as a technical leader in Asia’s competitive polyester film sector.
With global brand owners seeking more sustainable and higher-performance packaging substrates, Dhunseri’s latest investment underscores India’s growing role as a key production hub for advanced film materials.
