Dow honors top innovators at 35th Packaging Innovation Awards in Tokyo

JAPAN – Dow has recently announced the winners of the 35th Packaging Innovation Awards (PIA) during a ceremony at Tokyo Pack 2024.

The event, held from October 23 to 25, showcased the most innovative packaging solutions worldwide. The awards recognize excellence in technological advancement, sustainability, and user experience.

Earlier this year, an international panel of 18 experts from across the packaging value chain met in Bangkok to review all submissions.

After a rigorous selection process, 28 finalists were chosen for their innovation and impact, with winners evaluated based on their contributions to advancing the packaging industry.

“This year’s entries reflect not just the progress of innovation but also years of creative problem-solving in response to global challenges. The diversity of submissions has been exceptional, from advanced materials extending shelf life to designs that reduce packaging waste,” said Karen S. Carter, President of Packaging & Specialty Plastics at Dow.

“These awards celebrate today’s achievements and set the stage for future advancements.”

Bambang Candra, Dow’s APAC Commercial Vice President for Packaging & Specialty Plastics, emphasized the significance of hosting the awards in Asia for the first time.

“With Asia as a manufacturing hub, nearly half of this year’s submissions originated from the region, highlighting its growing influence in packaging innovation,” he stated.

The regional focus underscores Asia’s materials science, design, and sustainability leadership.
