Eagle Flexible Packaging expands with new US$5M facility in Waupun

USA – Eagle Flexible Packaging is set to expand its operations with a new US$5 million facility in the Waupun Industrial Park, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin.

The project is expected to break ground in early 2025, pending Waupun officials’ approval of a developer’s agreement to sell city-owned land for the expansion.

Kathy Schlieve, Waupun’s Economic Development Administrator and City Director welcomed the development, “Eagle Flexible Packaging has consistently invested in Waupun, creating jobs and supporting community initiatives.

“This project aligns with our goals to diversify the city’s economic base and expand the industrial park. We are excited to partner with Eagle in this endeavor.”

The facility is slated for completion by late 2025 and is projected to generate 30–40 new jobs within two years.

Eagle’s COO, Scott Deringer, revealed that the company aims to double its workforce over the next five years to meet expected growth.

Eagle has invested significantly in Waupun, acquiring property at 1208 Wilson Drive in 2024 and injecting over US$3 million into facility upgrades and advanced graphics equipment.

These efforts underscore Eagle’s commitment to strengthening its presence in the area and enhancing its capabilities.

Founded in 1994, Eagle Flexible Packaging specializes in flexible packaging products, including preformed pouches and roll-fed film.

With facilities in Batavia, Illinois, and Waupun, Wisconsin, the company employs 65 people at its Waupun site, which has been operational since 2021.

As part of its expansion strategy, Eagle recently acquired the SOMA Optima2 wide-web flexographic printing press, a significant technological upgrade.

Renowned for precision and efficiency, the press includes automation features such as automated plate mounting, auto registration, and speeds exceeding 1,600 feet per minute.

The addition of the SOMA Changeover Wizard, recipient of the prestigious FTA Technical Innovation Award, ensures quick and error-free job setups.

Eagle CEO Ed Walenga highlighted the strategic importance of this investment: “Integrating the SOMA Optima2 is a pivotal step in our mission to enhance the exceptional quality and service we provide to our customers.

“This technology allows us to deliver superior print quality and production efficiency while maintaining our commitment to sustainability.”

Garrett Taylor, SOMA North America Sales Director, praised Eagle’s dedication to quality and noted their achievement of the highest SQF certification standards.

As Eagle expands its footprint and integrates cutting-edge technology, the company solidifies its position as a leader in the flexible packaging industry.

It offers clients faster turnaround times, customization options, and unmatched quality while driving sustainability forward.
