EGYPT – Yasmin Fouad, Egypt’s Minister of Environment, inaugurated the 16th International Exhibition for Paper, Corrugated Board, Paperboard, and Tissue Paper Industries, along with related manufacturing, printing, packaging, and converting sectors.

The event, organized by Nile Exhibitions and Trading Company, took place at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre from September 8 to 10, 2024, under the patronage of the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Environment.

The exhibition featured 316 companies, including 213 Egyptian and 103 foreign and Arab participants.

High-profile attendees included Ali Abo Sena, CEO of the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency, Sami Al-Safran, Chairperson of the Arab Federation for Paper, Printing & Packaging Industries (AFPPPI), Nadim Elias, President of the Egyptian Chamber of Printing and Packaging Industry, as well as ambassadors from Uganda, Ghana, Namibia, Malawi, Indonesia, and Congo.

Minister Fouad toured the exhibition, visiting the Ministry of Environment’s booth, displaying publications, recycled paper, and cardboard products.

She engaged with exhibitors to learn about the latest cardboard and paper production and recycling technologies.

Promoting sustainability and recycling

Minister Fouad highlighted the exhibition’s importance in fostering collaboration within the paper and cardboard recycling industry.

“This exhibition is significant because it brings together companies focused on recycling paper and cardboard,” she said.

“Many of these companies are using modern technology to export their products to global markets.”

The Minister underscored the industry’s strong reliance on recycling, noting the presence of companies specializing in recycling tissue paper and manufacturing paper bags. This aligns with Egypt’s initiative to reduce single-use plastic bags.

Fouad also stressed the Ministry of Environment’s ongoing cooperation with other governmental agencies to promote paper bags and reusable alternatives as part of efforts to mitigate the environmental impact of plastic.

Enhancing market opportunities and global integration

The exhibition aims to create marketing opportunities for Egyptian, Arab, and international companies in the paper, packaging, and printing sectors.

By hosting international business leaders, investors, and companies, the event promotes economic and industrial integration between Arab and global markets, offering a platform to showcase investment opportunities and foster international cooperation.

“This event facilitates economic and commercial integration, encouraging businesses to explore new markets and expand their reach,” Fouad concluded.
