BRAZIL – Brazilian press manufacturer Etirama has launched its latest slitter and rewinder machine, the Etirama R4, enhancing its multi-substrate capabilities.
This versatile model is designed to handle both self-adhesive substrates and flexible films, including shrink labels and in-mold labels (IML).
Equipped with a Schneider servomotor, it supports a maximum substrate width of 430mm and reaches speeds up to 200m/min.
The R4 also offers two rewinding shafts of varied sizes and an optional automatic inspection system. Six units have already been installed across Brazil, Chile, and Colombia. Plans are in place to produce 20 additional units by mid-2025.
New European demo centre
Etirama recently opened a demo centre in Kohlberg, near Stuttgart, Germany to strengthen its presence in Europe.
This move follows the opening of a sales and service office in Lisbon, Portugal, in August 2022 and the appointment of new distributors throughout Europe.
The newly formed Etirama Europe, supported by MPS co-founder Bert van den Brink, focuses on brand management, marketing, and after-sales support across Europe.
The Kohlberg demo centre, a collaboration with German distributor Etiflex, houses an 8-colour Etirama SPS3 flexo press, first introduced at Labelexpo Europe.
Showroom open house and demonstrations
Etirama inaugurated the Kohlberg showroom with an open house event in June, drawing over 60 attendees, including label converters from Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, along with Etirama and Etiflex representatives.
Demonstrations highlighted the capabilities of the SPS3 modular flexo press. This servo-driven press, with a 350mm web width and up to 150m/min speeds, offers configurations with up to 10 colours, cold foil, lamination, and reverse printing features.
An electronic pre-register system ensures fast, economical setups, ideal for both small and medium-sized print jobs.
The SPS3 press is part of Etirama’s Global Series, which standardizes its machines on a single platform with components sourced from international partners.
Since launching the Global Series in 2020, Etirama has installed ten presses across Europe, supplementing a legacy fleet of older CI flexo machines.
CEO Ronnie Schröter sees strong potential in the modular SPS3 in the European market. “Etirama’s machines are affordable, easy to maintain, and designed for quick ROI, making them a competitive option for a recovering market,” he explains.
Future growth and new partnerships
Etirama’s partnership with Bert van den Brink and further expansion of its European distributor network mark significant steps toward establishing a more substantial brand presence in Europe.
Additional distribution agreements are expected soon, complementing current partnerships in Portugal, Spain, Greece, Turkey, and the DACH region, which Etiflex covers.
As Etirama continues to bring new models to the Kohlberg showroom for demonstrations, Schröter is optimistic about the brand’s growing foothold in the region.
