ABB’s instruments have already been in successful use at Asepto’s Sanand plant in India for over eight years, demonstrating proven reliability and performance.

EGYPT – ABB has won an order from Flex Asepto Egypt, a subsidiary of Asepto and part of the UFlex Group, for its L&W laboratory testing instruments and Lab Management System to support the company’s new aseptic liquid packaging plant in Sokhna, set to become one of the most advanced facilities of its kind.
The technologies will enable digitalized, high-performance quality management as Asepto expands its reach across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
ABB’s integrated solution combines intelligent lab data management with productivity-focused KPIs to help improve packaging performance, maintain product freshness, meet strict safety requirements, and uphold strong brand presentation.
Ensuring Quality Across Diverse Applications
The Sokhna facility will produce aseptic liquid packaging for a wide range of end uses, from dairy and dairy-based beverages to juice, nectars, and premium drinks.
ABB’s L&W Lab Management System automatically captures sample measurements from connected lab equipment and converts them into intuitive dashboards and real-time reports, empowering plant operators with actionable insights, improving lab efficiency, and supporting continuous quality and productivity gains.
A Proven Partnership
ABB’s instruments have already been in successful use at Asepto’s Sanand plant in India for over eight years, demonstrating proven reliability and performance.
The order marks another significant deployment of the L&W Lab Management System outside of a traditional paper mill, highlighting its growing relevance for paper converters in the packaging sector.
Ashwani K Sharma, President & CEO of the Liquid Packaging Business at UFlex Ltd, explained that ABB’s L&W instruments have long been a trusted part of the company’s existing operations in India, helping maintain the highest benchmarks in quality.
For the new Egypt facility, he noted that Asepto needed a solution that not only ensures reliability but also supports digitalization goals, and ABB’s Lab Management System met that requirement, giving the company greater insight and control over lab performance.
Digital Transformation in Packaging Quality Control
Wilson Monteiro, Global Business Line Manager for Pulp, Paper & Fiber at ABB’s Process Industries division, stated that this project demonstrates how ABB’s digital lab solutions are enabling quality assurance and operational excellence not only in pulp and paper mills but also in adjacent industries like liquid packaging.
He added that ABB is proud to support Asepto in its expansion into Egypt and looks forward to deepening its presence across the Middle East and Africa.
When Lab Data Drives Packaging Performance
Aseptic packaging protects liquid food without refrigeration, but only if the material performs. ABB’s lab instruments do not make the packaging; they validate it.
For Asepto, that validation data is the difference between shipment and spoilage.
