How Greenbank Recycling Solutions secured sustainable disposal

The initiative aims to help customers simplify cardboard waste disposal.

UK – Greenbank Recycling Solutions secured the sale of five fully automatic cardboard balers with financing from Siemens Financial Services (SFS), a strategic partner that provides financial solutions for sustainable initiatives.

The initiative aims to help customers simplify cardboard waste disposal.

With a rich history dating back to 1993, Greenbank has been at the forefront of waste management. Its mission is to evaluate businesses’ waste processes and offer innovative solutions that make waste management sustainable and efficient, saving businesses time and money.

Greenbank takes a tailored approach, beginning with a free waste management audit that helps identify the specific challenges and opportunities to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and make waste management more sustainable.

Greenbank offers machinery, including balers and compactors, as well as maintenance and consultancy services to the distribution, retail, food packaging, and manufacturing sectors.

Greenbank’s headquarters are in the US, with a significant number of sites in the UK.

This initiative was intended for an international customer in a logistics group that provides supply chain solutions to restaurant chains worldwide.

Greenbank is the preferred supplier of waste management solutions in the UK.

To help meet corporate sustainability targets, five fully automated cardboard balers were needed to efficiently manage the large volumes of cardboard waste.

These durable machines compress surplus cardboard into dense, securely bound bales, greatly minimising waste volume, freeing up storage space, and reducing disposal costs, thereby significantly contributing to the customer’s sustainability goals.

Given the significant cost of the balers, it was mutually beneficial for both Greenbank and the customer to adopt a financing solution to support the transaction.

For more than ten years, SFS UK has played a pivotal role as a financial partner to Greenbank.

As this was a global customer with equipment being installed in the UK, the financial application became more complex.

According to Greenbank, this successful financing solution from SFS enabled the sale of these cost-saving, sustainability-enabling machines, demonstrating the effectiveness of the partnership.

Ashlyn Saltmarsh, Executive Assistant at Greenbank, explained, “The sizeable exposure, the location of the customer’s financial decision-makers, and the required speed of the transactions could have put off even the most experienced financier.”

“SFS kept us in the loop throughout, so we were never in the dark about how conversations were progressing.”

The SFS account manager in the UK leveraged his strong working relationship with colleagues in the US to gain valuable insights into the customer’s financial standing, which helped secure a successful credit approval.

Kerrell Banks, Account Development Manager, SFS UK, said, “The size of investment, complexity and international element in this transaction meant we needed to do more due diligence than usual. We were fortunate to have the support of SFS in the US, as well as the experienced and knowledgeable staff in the UK. Completing this deal demonstrates the power of collaboration and service excellence.”

“We’re pleased we were able to support Greenbank in completing these transactions, but also that their customer can now benefit from this valuable equipment and see a long-term return on this investment and sustainability.”
