Nairobi has been chosen due to its vibrant private sector and agricultural backbone.

KENYA — Kenya is set to host the 9th edition of the AgroFood-PlastPack Exhibition from August 21 to 23 at the Sarit Centre in Nairobi.
The much-anticipated pan-African trade fair will bring together over 200 exhibitors from 16 countries, showcasing innovations in agriculture, food processing, packaging, poultry, plastics, paper, and tissue.
Organized by Dubai-based MXM Exhibitors, the event is expected to attract thousands of visitors, ranging from farmers and agribusiness leaders to investors, researchers, and policy makers.
The 2025 edition builds on the success of previous years and is set to amplify its regional impact through expanded sectoral diversity and deeper cross-border collaboration.
“This exhibition is not just about showcasing products, it’s about connecting the dots between innovation, investment, and food security,” said Axan, Event Organizer at MXM Exhibitors.
“We are creating a bridge between farmers, manufacturers, and policy makers across the continent.”
The five-in-one format, Grains & Technology, Agro & Poultry, Food & Beverages, Plastics, and Paper & Tissue, will allow for synergistic networking across interlinked industries.
The event will spotlight everything from climate-smart poultry systems and automated grain storage to biodegradable packaging solutions and advanced milling equipment.
The upcoming event will spotlight several key thematic areas that reflect the evolving landscape of agribusiness and sustainable industry practices in Africa.
One of the major focus areas is Grains Africa 2025, which will feature the latest innovations in grain storage, milling technologies, and quality assurance tools.
This theme is designed to address critical challenges in post-harvest losses and food safety while promoting efficiency in grain processing across the continent.
Another prominent theme is Agro & Poultry, showcasing cutting-edge livestock solutions and sustainable farming technologies.
This section will highlight innovations in animal health, feed systems, and integrated farming approaches that support productivity while maintaining ecological balance and animal welfare standards.
Completing the line-up is Paper & Tissue Africa, a dedicated segment that will present advancements in pulp processing, biodegradable packaging solutions, and eco-friendly tissue products.
This theme underscores the growing demand for sustainable paper-based alternatives in both industrial and consumer applications.
Together, these themes provide a comprehensive view of Africa’s shifting agricultural and industrial priorities, emphasizing resilience, innovation, and environmental responsibility.
The expo arrives at a time of cautious optimism across Africa. According to the World Bank, Sub-Saharan Africa is projected to grow by 3.5% in 2025, rising to 4.3% by 2027, fuelled by falling inflation, private investment, and stronger exports.
Yet, food insecurity and low per capita incomes remain persistent challenges.
“Kenya is at a fiscal crossroads,” Axan noted. “Events like AgroFood-PlastPack help address structural challenges by attracting investment, showcasing productivity-enhancing technologies, and fostering collaboration across East Africa’s agro-industrial value chains.”
The expo aligns with broader goals under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to deepen intra-African trade and scale agribusiness-led development.
Kenya, contributing approximately US$132 billion to East Africa’s GDP, is seen as a natural host for the event due to its vibrant private sector and agricultural backbone.
With exhibitors unveiling next-generation technologies for post-harvest management, food processing, and sustainable packaging, the 2025 AgroFood-PlastPack is positioned as a critical launchpad for agribusiness transformation in Africa.
