The campaign marks one of the most ambitious hygiene-focused CSR efforts ever undertaken by a private cleaning firm in Nigeria.

NIGERIA – Kleenrite Limited, one of Nigeria’s longest-standing professional cleaning and hygiene service providers, has marked its 35th anniversary with the launch of a landmark national sanitation initiative aimed at improving hygiene standards across the country.
The company, founded in 1990 by the late Charles Anyasi, began as an extension of his advertising business before evolving into a pioneering force in Nigeria’s environmental services sector.
From securing 20 clients in its first year to becoming a trusted provider of cleaning, fumigation, pest control and waste management services, Kleenrite’s growth has been shaped by two core philosophies: meticulous service delivery and proactive client engagement.
“Our 35th anniversary is a celebration of our founder’s foresight and the enduring power of our philosophy that cleanliness is productivity insurance,” said Managing Director Dr Island C. Anyasi.
“We are not just cleaning; we are making environments fit for purpose through documented systems, built on surveys, safe chemicals, trained teams and rigorous inspections.”
The legacy of the late Chairman’s attention to detail lives on in the internal mantra, “Did you add salt and pepper?”, a reminder to staff to exceed client expectations.
Another distinctive strategy, “Sight and Occupy,” helped the company win major contracts early on, including Churchgate in Victoria Island and the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital in Benin.
A landmark CSR push: ‘Kleen Up Nigeria’
To commemorate its milestone anniversary, the company announced ‘Kleen Up Nigeria’, a year-long Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative set to deliver targeted cleaning, sanitation and hygiene education programmes nationwide.
The campaign marks one of the most ambitious hygiene-focused CSR efforts ever undertaken by a private cleaning firm in Nigeria.
The initiative will focus on underserved communities, public schools, markets and medical institutions, moving beyond Kleenrite’s earlier CSR contributions, which included donating over 3,000 notebooks to schools and providing medical equipment to hospitals.
“This is a historic moment for us,” Dr Anyasi said. “‘Kleen Up Nigeria’ is our promise to amplify our core mission, protecting health, on a national scale. We are asking all Nigerians to join us in making this the cleanest year yet for our nation.”
At the anniversary celebration held on November 15 in Lagos, the company honoured outstanding employees with Long Service and Special Recognition Awards.
Among them was Kate Aruwuonye, a founding staff member with over 25 years of service.
“The company instilled a culture of integrity and attention to detail. It is an honour to see that culture still thriving today,” she said.
Clients also praised the company’s consistency. “Their reliability is unmatched,” concluded Steve Oko, an admin manager and long-time customer.
“They deploy the right solutions every time. They truly make cleanliness a system we can rely on.”
