ITALY – Sidel, a global leader in PET (polyethylene terephthalate) container production, has launched the Eco-Audit service, a comprehensive offering aimed at helping manufacturers optimize the environmental footprint of their packaging lines.
With over four decades of experience in PET container technology, Sidel’s Eco-Audit uses a multi-phase approach to significantly reduce energy and material consumption, addressing the growing need for sustainability in today’s packaging market.
As environmental regulations tighten and consumers demand lower carbon footprints, sustainability has become a competitive advantage for packaging manufacturers.
Sidel’s Eco-Audit service thoroughly assesses a production line’s energy use, material consumption, and overall environmental impact.
It focuses on recyclable PET containers that contribute significantly to a packaging line’s environmental footprint.
Sidel’s Eco-Audit service has three key phases, each designed to help manufacturers improve sustainability and efficiency in their PET production lines.
The first phase, Eco-Assessment, involves a comprehensive audit of the production process. This assessment identifies areas for improvement and quantifies potential savings in energy and material usage, providing a clear roadmap for optimization.
The second phase, Eco-Value, focuses on the immediate implementation of “quick wins” to achieve fast and impactful reductions in both energy and material consumption.
These improvements are designed to be cost-effective and easily integrated into the existing production line, helping manufacturers see immediate benefits.
Finally, the Eco-Partner phase offers ongoing, collaborative support for larger, long-term changes. This includes more significant upgrades, such as modernizing machinery and optimizing processes to ensure continuous improvement in environmental performance.
By offering this phased approach, Sidel provides manufacturers with both short-term gains and long-term sustainability solutions.
The service has already delivered impressive results. In one case study, a manufacturer reduced its carbon footprint by 7 tonnes of CO₂ annually and saved over €80,000.
Sidel plans to extend the Eco-Audit to other packaging equipment, including bottle washers and pasteurizers, offering a holistic approach to sustainability across entire production lines.
Sidel to spotlight industry-leading solutions at Gulfood Manufacturing 2024
Meanwhile, Sidel will also showcase its cutting-edge packaging solutions at Gulfood Manufacturing, which will be held from November 5 to 7, 2024, at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
As the premier platform for the food and beverage industry in the Middle East and Africa, the event brings together professionals to explore the future of food manufacturing, digital transformation, and innovative breakthroughs.
At the event, Sidel will spotlight its Aseptic Combi Predis, an integrated blow-fill-cap solution for PET bottles featuring dry preform sterilization technology.
This solution has been adopted by China’s Hainan Chunguang Foodstaff Co., Ltd. for coconut milk, enabling the company to meet economic and sustainability goals while running 28,000 bottles per hour.
In addition, Sidel will present its Super Combi technology, designed for high-speed water and carbonated soft drink production.
This smart system integrates five processes, delivering optimal performance and long-term value through intelligent automation.
Sidel’s installation for UAE-based Mai Dubai is the fastest PET complete bottling water line in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. It can fill 86,000 bottles per hour across three formats.
Focus on digitalization, AI, and sustainability
Sidel’s booth at Gulfood Manufacturing will also offer insights into how manufacturers can leverage digitalization and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance performance and meet sustainability goals.
Visitors can learn about Evo-ON®, Sidel’s AI-driven solution for real-time data analysis and smarter decision-making in production environments.
The platform helps manufacturers integrate data intelligence to achieve peak performance and sustainability targets, including transitioning to recycled PET.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore StarLITE®R, Sidel’s ultra-efficient 100% recycled PET bottle for carbonated soft drinks.
Designed to handle the complexities of working with recycled materials, StarLITE®R enables producers to switch to rPET bottle production without compromising quality or packaging integrity.
Sidel’s presence at Gulfood Manufacturing promises to be a comprehensive showcase of industry-leading innovations to drive sustainability, efficiency, and digital transformation in the packaging industry.
