The expansion directly supports Tadweer’s recycling infrastructure by ensuring that collected waste is sorted at source and routed to appropriate processing facilities.

UAE – Tadweer Group has expanded its AI-powered Tajmee’e waste collection system to 29 districts across northern Abu Dhabi, deploying more than 100 vehicles and 270 employees to feed recycling facilities and support the emirate’s 80 percent landfill diversion target by 2031.
Tajmee’e is built as a fully integrated collection system, combining AI-powered routing, real-time command centre oversight, and in-vehicle safety technologies that monitor driver alertness.
The data-capturing infrastructure allows the network to respond to actual demand through a dynamic collection mechanism.
During the mobilisation phase, the workforce completed 1,509 technical training manhours and 1,360 hours in Health, Safety, and Environment training, maintaining a zero Lost Time Injury record.
From Collection to Recycling
The expansion directly supports Tadweer’s recycling infrastructure by ensuring that collected waste is sorted at source and routed to appropriate processing facilities.
Clean, well-sorted recyclables, paper, plastics, metals, and glass, can be processed into secondary raw materials for manufacturing, reducing the need for virgin material extraction.
The AI routing system optimises collection schedules to maintain material quality, preventing contamination that would otherwise send recyclable waste to landfill.
Services across the new areas include residential, commercial, and bulky waste collection, with recyclables separated at the point of collection.
Leadership Perspectives
Etienne Petit, Chief Executive Officer of Tadweer Group, explained that the performance of Abu Dhabi’s circular economy system is determined long before waste reaches a processing facility.
He noted that collection quality, route efficiency, and operational discipline at the community level set the conditions for everything that follows.
Ashly Alex, Chief Executive Officer of Tajmee’e, stated that the system is designed to maintain performance as it scales, providing visibility, control, and responsiveness across every part of the network, enabling expansion while maintaining service levels and consistency.
Strategic Context for Circular Economy Goals
The expansion reinforces Tadweer Group’s strategy to develop a fully integrated circular economy system, where efficient waste collection feeds directly into recycling facilities, recovery operations, and energy generation plants.
Abu Dhabi has set a target of diverting 80 percent of waste from landfill by 2031, and Tajmee’e serves as the critical “first mile” of that system, ensuring that recyclable materials enter the value chain rather than being lost to landfill.
When Collection Determines Recycling
A recycling plant cannot process what never arrives sorted.
Tadweer’s AI-driven Tajmee’e system proves that recycling success depends as much on the collection truck as the processing plant.
With 100 vehicles now serving 29 districts, Abu Dhabi is building its 80 percent diversion target from the curb up, one sorted bin at a time.
