Tailim focuses on sustainable box innovation while aiming for a financial rebound.

SOUTH KOREA – TAILIM Packaging, a leading force in South Korea’s corrugated box industry, has unveiled a high-strength lightweight corrugated box at its Siheung factory.
According to company officials, this innovative box, measuring 350 mm wide and 255 mm long, can support up to 278 kg while using 20% less paper than traditional designs.
“By applying special reinforced raw paper, we’ve enhanced the strength of our corrugated cardboard by 20%,” said Jang Jeong-won, team leader at TAILIM’s technology research institute in Siheung.
“This product reflects our 50 years of expertise in paper and corrugated technology.”
The Siheung facility, sprawling across 75,358 square meters, produces an average of one million corrugated boxes daily, catering to industries like food and beverage, agriculture, electronics, and e-commerce.
A report by industry analysts highlights that the factory’s fully automated assembly line, equipped with cutting-edge robotics, optimizes production efficiency while aligning with TAILIM’s commitment to a “coexistence of people and a green environment.”
The company also introduced the corrugated thermal box (TECBOX), designed for temperature-sensitive goods, further expanding its eco-friendly portfolio.
Despite its innovation, TAILIM faced challenges in 2023, reporting revenues of 715.3 billion won but an operating loss of 16.5 billion won, driven by a sluggish domestic economy and rising raw material costs.
However, in a statement, company leadership expressed optimism about a profit turnaround, fueled by the growing demand for sustainable packaging in the booming online shopping sector.
“Our focus on lightweight, durable, and recyclable solutions positions us to meet evolving market needs,” a TAILIM spokesperson noted.
In early 2025, industry updates revealed a surge in demand for eco-friendly corrugated solutions, with global recycling rates for corrugated cardboard exceeding 90%.
Innovations like water-based inks and lightweighting techniques are reducing environmental impact while maintaining box strength, aligning with consumer preferences for green packaging.
TAILIM’s advancements, including custom designs for e-commerce and food safety, position it as a frontrunner in this trend.
Founded in 1976, TAILIM operates nine factories across South Korea, with its Siheung headquarters housing a cutting-edge research institute.
By prioritizing sustainability and leveraging automation, the company is not only reducing its carbon footprint but also setting a benchmark for the industry.
