KENYA – TakaTaka Solutions, a vertically integrated waste management company, has received a certificate of appreciation for its contribution through waste management services at the European Day Kenya Football Tournament.

This recognition highlights the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility and fostering partnerships and collaborations.

During the event, TakaTaka Solutions provided comprehensive waste management and recycling services, demonstrating its dedication to creating sustainable and reliable waste solutions.

“We invite organizations seeking reliable and sustainable waste management solutions to join us in building a greener and more sustainable future,” the company shared in a LinkedIn post.

Founded in 2011 by Daniel Paffenholz, TakaTaka Solutions has grown significantly. It collects over 60 tonnes of waste daily in the Nairobi Metropolitan area and recycles 95%.

The company operates sorting sites, composting plants, recycling facilities, incinerators, and buy-back centers, which is crucial in advancing Kenya’s recycling sector.

TakaTaka Solutions is committed to expanding its impact. The company plans to build multiple material recovery facilities over the next five years and establish additional recycling plants.

Furthermore, it aims to collaborate with other firms to achieve this vision, scaling its operations to contribute to a more environmentally friendly waste management paradigm in Kenya.

By creating a network that diverts waste from dumpsites to recovery facilities, TakaTaka Solutions is setting a new standard for waste management in the region.

Their efforts enhance the recycling sector and pave the way for a greener, more sustainable future.

M-taka’s initiatives in waste management

TakaTaka Solutions is not alone in making strides in waste recycling and management. Kisumu-based M-taka has also been working closely with stakeholders and the government to ensure proper handling of household waste.

Recently, the start-up joined the Kisumu County City Department of Environment, led by City Manager Abala M. Wanga and other stakeholders, in a thorough cleanup at Maendeleo Market.

Through a waste decongestion initiative, the City Department of Environment aims to decongest accumulated waste within the County, ensuring consistent waste collection at various strategic points.

The initiative targets key locations, including Kibuye, Riat, Chiga, Mamboleo, Manyatta, Obunga, Pap Mbuta, Car Wash, Kosawo, Kondele, Nyalenda, and Wathorego.

“As we join in implementing this impactful initiative, M-taka remains committed to advocating for proper and sustainable waste management practices,” M-taka shared in a LinkedIn post.
