TCPL Packaging expands operations with new manufacturing plant in India

INDIA – TCPL Packaging, one of India’s leading packaging companies, has launched a new greenfield manufacturing facility in Vengal, near Chennai in the southern state of Tamil Nadu.

This state-of-the-art plant will focus on the production of paperboard cartons, significantly boosting the company’s logistics and service capabilities across the region.

The new facility marks a key step in TCPL’s growth strategy. It will enable faster deliveries and cater to the rising demand for sustainable packaging solutions.

By expanding its footprint in southern India, TCPL strengthens its presence nationwide and enhances its ability to meet customer needs more efficiently.

Headquartered in Mumbai, TCPL is known for its wide portfolio, including folding cartons, printed blanks and outers, litho-lamination, plastic cartons, blister packs, and shelf-ready packaging.

The company already operates facilities in Silvassa, Haridwar, Goa, Greater Noida, and Assam, effectively covering all four regions of India.

Commenting on the expansion, Saket Kanoria, Managing Director of TCPL Packaging, said, “The commissioning of our Chennai greenfield facility marks a key milestone in our growth journey. This expansion augments our ability to serve customers in a high-potential market while supporting our long-term vision for scalability and industry leadership.

“The new plant will drive operational efficiency, improve service delivery, and strengthen our position in the sustainable packaging industry.”

The Chennai plant follows TCPL’s move to increase its stake in its subsidiary, Creative Offset Printers Private Limited (COPPL).

In a recent stock exchange filing, TCPL disclosed acquiring 43,800 additional equity shares in COPPL for approximately ₹21 million (US$251,790), raising its ownership to 100%.

Established in July 2002, COPPL specialises in manufacturing cartons and boxes, primarily for mobile phone manufacturers.

The company operates out of New Delhi and has a factory in Greater Noida. In FY2022–23, COPPL reported revenue of approximately ₹342 million.

TCPL first entered into a share purchase agreement to acquire a 60% stake in COPPL in November 2021, marking its entry into the rigid boxes segment.

The full acquisition positions TCPL to strengthen its packaging offerings further, especially as demand grows in sectors like electronics manufacturing.

Through its new facility and strategic acquisitions, TCPL Packaging continues reinforcing its status as a leader in India’s packaging sector—committed to growth, innovation, and sustainability.
