UDF adopts ProAmpac’s HandRap to enhance food-to-go offerings

USA – United Dairy Farmers (UDF) has selected ProAmpac’s HandRap solution to elevate the presentation of its food-to-go products and customer appeal.

This innovative packaging combines a clear film wrap with a curbside-recyclable carton board, allowing UDF to showcase its fresh offerings while ensuring product quality and extended shelf life.

The HandRap packaging is designed for a variety of food items, including sandwiches, paninis, burgers, and pastries.

Its transparent film wrap improves visibility, attracting customers’ attention while preserving freshness in hot and chilled conditions.

Chad Murdock, President of ProAmpac’s Fibre Division, emphasized the solution’s impact on customer experience, “HandRap is designed to help our partners deliver an exceptional experience to their customers.

“We’re thrilled that UDF has seen such strong results, and we remain committed to providing innovative and sustainable packaging solutions that align with their goals.”

Beyond improving presentation, ProAmpac highlights HandRap’s sustainability benefits. The carton board component is recyclable, aligning with eco-conscious consumer preferences.

Additionally, the packaging is shipped flat, streamlining logistics and reducing storage space requirements.

UDF has already observed significant sales growth following the adoption of HandRap.

Chuck Kronyak, Senior Category Manager for UDF Fresh Foods and Bakery noted, “The HandRap has been a game-changer for our food-to-go offerings. The improved visibility and quality have been well-received by our customers, and the results speak for themselves.”

Beyond HandRap, ProAmpac continues to innovate in packaging technology. In September last year, the company launched an enhanced version of MAKR by DASL, an online pouch configurator designed to simplify the packaging design process.

Powered by 3D Source Configuration Platform and Unreal Engine technology, MAKR by DASL enables brands to create custom, high-quality digital prototypes for pouches, bags, and food-to-go packaging.

Users can adjust dimensions, add features, and incorporate graphics, receiving a physical prototype within two weeks, significantly accelerating product development.

Sal Pellingra, ProAmpac’s VP of Global Package Design, Applications, and Business Development, described its impact, “MAKR by DASL revolutionizes virtual prototyping by providing a quick and easy platform to design packaging online without complicated software or external resources. It’s an industry-first, user-friendly tool.”

A recent collaboration with Brackett’s Orchards in Maine demonstrated MAKR’s effectiveness. The orchard used the platform to design packaging for Brackett’s Best Apple Chips, enabling faster commercialization.

Josh Paulin, owner of Brackett’s Orchards, praised the tool’s efficiency, “By utilizing MAKR by DASL, our ideas came to life. We quickly created package designs and evaluated artwork ideas.

“ProAmpac shortened the product launch from what I thought would take many months to just weeks.”

Through HandRap and MAKR by DASL, ProAmpac continues to push the boundaries of sustainable, innovative, and efficient packaging solutions, helping brands like UDF and Brackett’s Orchards enhance their product offerings and customer experiences.
