WebstaurantStore enhances packaging efficiency with new CVP Impack machines

The latest machines are anticipated to be fully operational this month.

USA – WebstaurantStore, a leading online restaurant supply retailer, has expanded its automated packaging capabilities by installing three additional CVP Impack machines from Sparck Technologies, a Packsize Company, at its new Maryland facility.

This addition brings the total to 13 CVP Impack machines across its North American distribution centers, with the new units expected to be fully operational in August 2025.

The CVP Impack system, first adopted by WebstaurantStore in 2020, is designed to handle over 50,000 stock-keeping units (SKUs) of varying sizes.

According to company reports, the technology optimizes packaging by reducing processing time, minimizing corrugate usage, and eliminating excess void fill.

The automated process measures, constructs, tapes, weighs, and labels each order in just seven seconds, significantly enhancing operational efficiency.

John Bohn, WebstaurantStore’s Director of Implementation, stated, “The decision to integrate three more CVP Impack machines stems from the remarkable success we’ve seen with Sparck’s technology.”

“From our first unit to this 13th installation, Sparck has been an exceptional partner, providing outstanding service and consistent support. Their solutions have been pivotal to our operational achievements.”

The initial ten CVP Impack machines have delivered packaging speeds seven times faster than manual methods, substantially reducing labor costs.

A report by Sparck Technologies highlights that some WebstaurantStore facilities have achieved over 95% uptime, with the machines operational 90% of the time.

Additionally, the system maintains a low retraction rate of just over 5%, underscoring its reliability.

David Gray, Senior Vice President of Sales at Sparck Technologies, said, “We are excited to deepen our partnership with WebstaurantStore through the addition of these three CVP Impack machines.”

“Our fit-to-size technology drives significant efficiency, and WebstaurantStore’s measurable results demonstrate its impact. We look forward to supporting their continued growth.”

The operational savings from this automation have enabled WebstaurantStore to reinvest in its business, maintaining competitive pricing for its customers.

Sparck’s comprehensive support, including biweekly performance reviews and on-site technician training, has further enhanced fulfillment efficiency.

In a related development, Packsize’s acquisition of Sparck Technologies has strengthened its global leadership in sustainable packaging solutions.

The strategic move aligns with WebstaurantStore’s commitment to scalability and environmental responsibility, as the CVP Impack reduces material waste and transportation costs.

With a product range exceeding 376,000 items, from commercial grills to cleaning supplies, WebstaurantStore continues to leverage automation to meet growing demand.
