The project is expected to create at least 200 new, full-time jobs over the next three years, while retaining 1,704 existing positions.

USA – B. Braun of America, a key player in medical device production, has committed US$20 million to upgrade its Hanover Township facility near Allentown, Pennsylvania.
The project aims to modernize equipment for intravenous therapy, pharmacy admixture, and compounding operations, while creating 200 new positions over the next three years.
This adds to the site’s current 1,704 employees and includes a dedicated workforce training center to support skill development in manufacturing.
According to company details, the expansion at the 710,000-square-foot plant will increase output of over 2,400 medical devices and related items produced in Lehigh County.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro highlighted the initiative during a recent visit, noting that state incentives totaling US$1.5 million in workforce grants and tax credits will aid the effort.
“This investment shows how Pennsylvania’s manufacturing sector continues to thrive through partnerships that drive jobs and innovation,” Shapiro said in a statement.
Rob Albert, CEO of B. Braun of America, emphasized the facility’s role in the U.S. supply chain.
He stated that the upgrades would enhance production efficiency for devices used nationwide by healthcare providers.
Albert added that the company values Pennsylvania’s skilled labor pool and supplier network, which enable reliable medical manufacturing.
The project builds on earlier expansions started three years ago, focusing on treatments for cancer and autoimmune conditions.
In line with broader environmental goals, the investment supports B. Braun’s ongoing shift toward reduced plastic in packaging.
The firm already avoids DEHP and PVC in its IV containers and irrigation solutions, opting for lighter designs that cut waste sent to landfills.
A report by the company’s sustainability team indicates that these containers weigh less than competitors’ options, easing storage and transport while lowering material use.
Employees through a “Green Team” initiative have further decreased plastic bag consumption at operations.
