FRANCE – Packaging leader Berry Global has partnered with La Rosée, a prominent French natural cosmetics company, to develop a refillable stick for La Rosée’s best-selling deodorant.

After two years of joint research and development, the La Rosée deodorant is now available in pharmacies across France.

The deodorant formula contains 99% natural ingredients and follows strict formulation specifications, excluding aluminum salts and alcohol.

La Rosée aimed to match these natural credentials with an environmentally friendly packaging solution.

Critical criteria included a reusable pack with no overwrapping or secondary packaging and the potential for recycled material.

The new pack, designed to be watertight, offers consumers unparalleled convenience and ease of use. Its aesthetic appeal is a bonus, enhancing user experience.

“We wanted a pack that reflects all of the strong values of La Rosée in terms of our commitments to the environment and also maximizes the consumer experience,” said Mahault De Guibert, co-founder of La Rosée.

Berry’s Exclusive Refill enables consumers to continuously use the same deodorant stick with a specially designed refill that cannot be used alone.

The refill’s mono-material polypropylene (PP) construction offers a weight reduction of 62% compared to a full stick.

The 50ml size ensures the deodorant’s convenient, accurate, and hygienic application, eliminating the need to touch the formula.

The refill process, designed to minimize contact with the product, allows consumers to refill the deodorant in under a minute.

The cylindrical design of the Exclusive Refill, with its square edge and pure straight lines, provides a unique and eye-catching on-shelf presence.

The bespoke La Rosée branding allows for full personalization, adding a touch of exclusivity to the product.

While the initial production used virgin PP, Berry and La Rosée are working to incorporate Berry’s proprietary CleanStream recycled PP for contact-sensitive applications.

“We are delighted to have collaborated with La Rosée in the success of this project,” said Antoine Rousset, sales market manager – personal care at Berry Global.

“Reuse is a key element of our ongoing sustainability strategy, and we are now working with La Rosée to develop further refill solutions. The lightweight 200ml Prima refillable jar has just been launched, and more will come!”
