Coveris invests US$11M to upgrade German facility

The latest upgrade comprises three major additions.

GERMANY – Coveris, a leading provider of sustainable paper and plastic packaging solutions, has finalized a US$11 million upgrade to its Halle facility, significantly enhancing its production capabilities.

The comprehensive overhaul includes three key advancements: a new cast film extrusion line, next-generation printing technology, and an optimized logistics system.

According to Coveris, these upgrades aim to boost production efficiency, improve product quality, and support sustainable growth.

The newly installed F08 cast film extrusion line is now fully operational, enabling the facility to produce recyclable monofilms tailored for thermoforming and medical applications.

This addition enhances the plant’s flexibility in developing customized, future-ready packaging solutions.

“The new extrusion line positions us to meet advanced customer needs with sustainable, high-performance materials,” said Michael Schrameyer, Coveris Germany Flexibles Managing Director.

Additionally, the T9 Rotomec gravure printing press has completed testing and is now in full operation.

This state-of-the-art press delivers faster, more accurate printing, ensuring high-quality packaging with consistent output and reduced production times.

“This technology elevates our ability to provide reliable, top-tier packaging solutions,” Schrameyer added.

The facility also benefits from a newly constructed warehouse, streamlining internal logistics and expanding storage capacity.

This upgrade optimizes material management and enhances delivery performance, further strengthening the site’s operational efficiency.

In a statement, Coveris emphasized that the Halle upgrades align with its broader strategy to modernize its production landscape and drive value through intelligent, sustainable expansion.

This completed investment is a testament to our long-term vision and commitment to delivering high-performance packaging solutions. Halle is now equipped to meet evolving market demands with even greater agility and quality,” Schrameyer noted.

This development follows Coveris’ recent US$1.2 million investment in its Linerless Labelling Centre of Excellence in Spalding, England, to address growing demand for sustainable labeling solutions.

Additionally, a recent industry report highlights that Coveris has partnered with a European retailer to pilot a fully recyclable monofilm packaging solution, set to launch in early 2026.

This initiative, sourced from recent updates on sustainable packaging trends, reinforces Coveris’ leadership in eco-friendly packaging innovation.
