Dabur partners with Ball Corporation for eco-conscious Réal Bites Juice packaging

INDIA – Dabur India, a household name with over 135 years of legacy, has joined forces with Ball Corporation, a global leader in sustainable aluminum packaging, to revolutionize its Réal Bites Juice portfolio.

The partnership introduces fully recyclable aluminum cans to the Indian market, offering a sustainable and innovative way to enjoy juices with real fruit chunks in every sip.

India’s juice market experienced robust double-digit growth in 2023, fueled by increasing consumer interest in healthier beverage options amidst rising health concerns.

Juice has also gained traction as a refreshing drink for social occasions. By 2028, the category is projected to grow by over 35 million liters in volume, driven by innovative launches and new flavors.

The newly introduced Réal Bites are available in Peach, Pineapple, and Réal Green Apple flavors.

Packaged in 185ml aluminum cans, they cater to on-the-go consumers, offering convenience and a longer shelf life of up to one year, significantly exceeding the typical four-to-nine months of other packaging formats.

This ensures consumers can enjoy their favorite juices for extended periods while making a sustainable choice.

Mayank Kumar, Vice President of Marketing at Dabur India, highlighted the company’s dedication to evolving consumer needs, “At Réal, our goal is to continually innovate and cater to the evolving preferences of our consumers.

“The introduction of Réal Bites in aluminum cans broadens our portfolio while meeting demands for longer shelf life and eco-friendly packaging. We’re thrilled to offer the same great taste in a convenient and fully recyclable format.”

Why Aluminum?

Aluminum’s infinite recyclability makes it a truly circular material, retaining its properties across multiple recycling cycles.

Recycling aluminum saves 95% of the energy compared to producing virgin aluminum, minimizing waste and reducing environmental impact.

Manish Joshi, Commercial Director Asia at Ball, explained the advantages of this partnership, “With consumers embracing healthy, on-the-go beverages, aluminum cans are expected to grow at a CAGR of 12% in the juice-based category between 2023 and 2028.

“Ball’s two-piece aluminum beverage cans are fully recyclable, customizable, and ideal for innovative branding. For Dabur’s Réal Bites, which contain fruit chunks, the wide-mouth design ensures easy consumption while aligning with sustainability goals.”

This collaboration reflects growing consumer demand for eco-conscious products and aligns with the Indian government’s net-zero emissions target by 2070.

Aluminum cans, the most recycled beverage packaging globally, support these goals while providing a versatile, attractive option for brands.
