This integration ensures seamless colour accuracy for industries including labels, packaging, corrugated, and sign and display.

ITALY – Durst Group, a global leader in digital printing and production technologies, has announced the integration of GMG’s cutting-edge spectral colour management technology into its proprietary Durst Workflow software and the open Smart Factory portfolio, part of the Open Software Initiative.

The official launch is set to align with the unveiling of the Open Software Initiative at Printing United 2025, scheduled for September 10–12 in Las Vegas, USA.

This move positions Durst as a pioneer in automated, colour-consistent production across diverse printing systems and substrates.

The integration of GMG’s technology into Durst Workflow ensures seamless colour accuracy for industries including labels, packaging, corrugated, and sign and display.

Existing Durst customers with valid software agreements will receive this upgrade at no additional cost, enhancing accessibility to advanced colour management.

The GMG solution also becomes a cornerstone of Durst’s modular Smart Factory architecture, a key component of the Open Software Initiative, which aims to create an open, interconnected production ecosystem for the global print industry.

Michael Deflorian, director of Durst’s Business Unit Software and Solutions, emphasized the transformative impact, “By embedding GMG’s spectral colour management into Durst Workflow and our Smart Factory platform, we’re delivering unparalleled colour consistency that’s fully automated and scalable.

“This integration exemplifies our Open Software Initiative’s vision of best-of-breed collaboration, offering top-tier solutions not only for Durst customers but for the entire print industry.”

Darrian Young, global partnership manager at GMG, echoed this sentiment, “This partnership unites two innovators committed to quality. Integrating GMG into Durst’s ecosystem enables a media-neutral production process, setting a new standard for the industry.”

The collaboration leverages GMG’s expertise in spectral colour technology, ensuring consistent branding colours across diverse substrates and printing systems, a critical need in markets like packaging and advertising.

The global digital printing market, valued at USD 27.2 billion in 2024, is projected to grow at a CAGR of 7.1% through 2030, per a Grand View Research report, driven by demand for customization and sustainability.

Durst’s initiative addresses challenges such as colour variability and production inefficiencies, which have long plagued the industry.

By integrating GMG’s technology, Durst strengthens its leadership in end-to-end production solutions while advancing its open, cross-system approach.

The unveiling at Printing United 2025 is expected to draw significant attention, reinforcing Durst’s commitment to innovation and industry-wide collaboration.
