GERMANY – Ferrum Packaging AG and KHS GmbH have announced the acquisition of H.F. Meyer Maschinenbau, a move that strengthens their position in the beverage packaging industry.
Effective January 1, 2025, this partnership leverages H.F. Meyer’s expertise in can turners, rinsers, and vacuum bridges to enhance Ferrum’s and KHS’s existing capabilities.
Despite the merger, H.F. Meyer will maintain its operational independence within the consortium.
Beat Bühlmann, Ferrum Group’s board chairman, highlighted the acquisition’s value, emphasizing that H.F. Meyer’s specialized knowledge will enrich the consortium’s technological offerings.
According to Bühlmann, the merger allows the companies to combine expertise, resulting in customized, integrated equipment solutions tailored to client needs.
The acquisition is a strategic step toward creating a competence centre for innovative scanning technologies.
Martin Resch, managing director of KHS Group, emphasized that the collaboration aims to produce the world’s best canning lines by continually improving machinery efficiency and quality.
H.F. Meyer, a trusted mechanical engineering company with facilities in Schleswig-Holstein and Bavaria, employs around 100 people.
The company has built a strong reputation for reliable, high-quality canning technology. Bühlmann reassured customers that H.F. Meyer will uphold its commitments, ensuring seamless service and continued excellence.
This integration aligns with industry trends focusing on innovation and operational synergy. By pooling expertise, Ferrum, KHS, and H.F. Meyer are well-positioned to lead the development of advanced canning solutions, offering superior value and precision to the global beverage industry.
KHS has been delivering services to other beverage companies worldwide. Last month, the Czech Republic’s mineral water giant Mattoni 1873 installed a state-of-the-art canning line from KHS.
The company, renowned for its iconic mineral water brand, has modernized its operations in line with its mission to improve circularity and reduce environmental impact across Central Europe.
The new canning line in Karlovy Vary marks the first time Mattoni 1873 has introduced recyclable beverage cans into its portfolio.
The cans are made from approximately 70% recycled aluminum, aligning with the company’s sustainability goals.
According to Mattoni 1873’s executive president, Alessandro Pasquale, the canning system complements the brand’s packaging options, enabling it to offer a full range of non-alcoholic beverage containers.
Pasquale noted, “Our ultramodern system now completes our packaging portfolio, allowing us to meet market demand more efficiently.”
The new KHS line features an Innofill Can C can filler, processing up to 20,000 containers per hour.
