Flair Packaging expands sustainable packaging solutions with new facility

To support this growth Flair has also acquired a second plant in Calgary

CANADA – Flair Packaging has expanded its manufacturing capabilities in Calgary, Alberta, with the addition of advanced equipment and a new facility.

The company has integrated a state-of-the-art ten-color flexographic press and a solventless laminator at its existing plant, while also acquiring a second facility in the city, adding 35,000 square feet of production and warehouse space.

The strategic expansion is set to strengthen Flair’s ability to deliver high-performance, eco-friendly packaging solutions tailored to meet diverse industry needs.

According to Flair Packaging, this initiative marks the first phase of a broader plan to scale up its Canadian manufacturing platform.

The new equipment enhances the company’s capacity to produce customized laminates, offering precise control over thickness, barrier properties, and performance requirements.

These advancements enable Flair to provide bold, high-quality graphics and sustainable packaging options, such as recyclable pouches and roll stock films, for applications like form-fill-seal, lidding, and thermoforming.

In a statement, Young So, president and owner of Flair Packaging, emphasized the company’s proactive response to global challenges:

“Unprecedented disruptions in recent years have exposed supply chain vulnerabilities across all industries, and we took that as a signal to evolve,” he said.

“We saw an opportunity to help brands stay agile in the face of changing demand by integrating advanced material innovation with onshore manufacturing.”

So further highlighted the company’s commitment to accessibility, stating, “Our goal has always been to make high-performance, value-added packaging solutions more accessible to the North American market.”

Meanwhile, for over three decades, the company has built a reputation for delivering high-quality, food-safe packaging solutions, backed by its Total Quality Management system and FSSC22000-certified food safety standards.

The Calgary upgrades complement Flair’s broader North American operations, which include a robust inventory of unprinted, ready-to-label roll stock and premade pouches with features like valves and spouts, catering to both food and non-food industries.

A recent report by a leading packaging industry news outlet highlights Flair’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, noting the company’s introduction of a PE mono-material coffee bag at a major trade show in November 2024.

By expanding its Calgary operations, Flair Packaging is set to lead the industry in delivering sustainable, high-performance packaging that meets the evolving demands of brands and consumers alike.
