Henkel Egypt presented its global sustainability strategy and local milestones, highlighting the site’s complete transition to clean energy.

EGYPT — Henkel Egypt welcomed a delegation of leading German companies to its 6th of October City production facility as part of an initiative to strengthen cooperation between Egypt and Germany in sustainable construction, energy efficiency, and solar integration.
The visit, organized by the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Egypt) under the theme “Energy-efficient Construction and Integrated PV Solutions in Egyptian Urban Development,” forms part of the “Energy Solutions – Made in Germany” program, supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWK).
Delegates toured Henkel’s 6th of October plant, a benchmark for sustainable manufacturing. In 2024, it became Henkel’s first facility across Egypt, the Middle East and Africa, Latin America, and the Australia–New Zealand region to achieve full carbon-neutral production.
The visiting delegation included prominent German firms specializing in green building technologies, solar energy, ventilation systems, and energy storage, such as ECODRY, MAINCOR Rohrsysteme, Otto Lehmann GmbH, and Rubitherm Technologies.
Henkel Egypt presented its global sustainability strategy and local milestones, highlighting the site’s complete transition to clean energy.
Fossil fuel use has been eliminated through the installation of two electric boilers and locally generated solar power, cutting annual CO₂ emissions by around 1,900 tonnes, equivalent to driving a car around the world 237 times.
In packaging and logistics, the company has advanced its circular economy commitments by adopting 100% recycled cardboard cartons and developing packaging from recycled materials.
Henkel Egypt was also the first in the country to introduce a double-deck transport system, reducing logistics-related emissions by up to 48%.
“The visit to Henkel’s 6th of October production site reaffirms the importance of international collaboration in advancing the sustainability agenda,” said Sherif Khalil, President of Henkel Egypt.
“Our factory stands as a tangible example of what can be achieved through innovation, strategic planning, and continued investment in green solutions. We are proud to present a successful Egyptian model that reflects our commitment to a low-emission, more sustainable industrial future.”
Beyond manufacturing, Henkel Egypt continues to invest in community development, supporting volunteer initiatives and educational partnerships aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to promote positive social impact alongside environmental progress.
