Mondi unveils sustainable paper bag for moisture-sensitive products

FRANCE – Mondi, a global leader in sustainable packaging and paper, is unveiling its re/cycle PaperPlus Bag Advanced, a high-performance paper bag designed to protect humidity-sensitive goods as well as significantly reduce plastic content

Mondi has introduced a sustainable, high-barrier paper bag aiming to safeguard humidity-sensitive products.

The re/cycle PaperPlus Bag Advanced ensures high performance in moisture protection and significantly reduces plastic content in the building and construction industry. 

The eco-friendly paper bag is designed for powdery products. It offers excellent barrier performance against moisture and supports recyclability.

To maintain moisture protection for humidity-sensitive products, this bag features a slim 20-micron (µm) film.

In comparison to conventional bags having a 50µm film, it uses up to 60% less plastic, thus reducing the carbon footprint.

According to Mondi’s in-house lifecycle-based PIA (Product Impact Assessment) tool, PaperPlus Bag Advanced aligns with the level of product protection.

According to the Confederation of European Paper Industries’ testing method and the 4Evergreen evaluation protocol, PaperPlus Bag Advanced has been tested and approved as recyclable.

The development of this product originates from Mondi’s collaboration with flooring systems manufacturer UZIN to protect its fast-drying flooring solution.

The water vapour barrier feature in the PaperPlus Bag keeps materials both secure and dry in demanding environments.

Additionally, its design enables it to operate efficiently on existing filling and sealing lines without requiring changes to production equipment.

Earlier this month, Mondi created sustainable pet food packaging for Saga Nutrition.

The sustainable solution is made from a mono-material to replace the previously used multi-material, non-recyclable plastic. It ensures pet food freshness while supporting a circular economy.
