INDIA – Surya Fresh Foods, a subsidiary of Surya Food & Agro, has significantly boosted its productivity by upgrading its BOBST NOVACUT 106 E Autoplaten die-cutter.

This move is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to enhance efficiency in its packaging operations.

In 2014, Surya Fresh Foods installed the BOBST NOVACUT 106 E, a BOBST folder-gluer, and other machinery for its in-house print and packaging production.

The latest upgrade to the flatbed die-cutter includes a non-stop feeder and a machine elevation system specifically tailored for biscuit carton output.

Surya Fresh Foods director Shrey Agarwal said, “With these upgrades, we’ve revolutionized our BOBST machine, successfully enhancing its capabilities and addressing our previous operational limitations.

“These enhancements have significantly increased production speed, allowing for a continuous workflow and a substantial boost in output.”

The upgrade allows the machine to handle 950 sheets before reloading, an increase from the previous 650 sheets.

This reduction in pile changes has led to a 40% surge in production speed while maintaining high accuracy without incurring additional maintenance costs. Surya Fresh Foods anticipates a return on investment (ROI) within eight to nine months.

Agarwal added, “We’re planning to integrate an auto-blanking system to streamline our operations further.”

In related news, Vaibhav Plasto Printing and Packaging recently purchased two additional BOBST NOVA RS 5003 gravure presses to bolster its manufacturing capabilities.

This investment aims to enhance customer satisfaction and meet the increasing market demands, significantly boosting the manufacturing capabilities of the packaging company’s domestic 27,000m² facility in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

The first BOBST NOVA RS 5003 gravure press is expected to be installed at Vaibhav Plasto’s facility in this year’s third quarter (Q3), with the second to follow in Q4 2024.

The presses are known for their performance on various flexible materials, including eco-friendly substrates, aligning with Vaibhav Plasto’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

They are designed for operational efficiency, enhanced productivity, quick changeovers, and minimal waste—critical features in the competitive Indian packaging industry.

Vaibhav Plasto currently operates three BOBST rotogravure presses, including an RS 5002 press commissioned in 2016.

Adding the new presses will bring the total to five, significantly boosting the company’s production capacity and capabilities.

This strategic investment in BOBST technology demonstrates Vaibhav Plasto’s readiness to adopt advanced technologies that cater to the market’s evolving needs.
