TomKat KoolPak sets a new benchmark in environmentally responsible packaging for the transportation of perishable and temperature sensitive products

THAILAND – TomKat Global Solutions has entered an exclusive supply agreement with Thai Sekisui Foam and Sekisui Foam Australia, paving the way for its entry into Southeast Asian markets.
The pact was sealed at the Australian Ambassador’s residence in Bangkok, coinciding with Australia’s second Green Economy business mission and Sustainability Expo 2025.
Under the terms, TomKat’s KoolPak system will incorporate specialized foam materials from Sekisui, replacing single-use polystyrene in cold chain applications.
This reusable, recyclable liner, protected by TomKat patents, has demonstrated reductions in carbon emissions through large-scale trials in logistics and food sectors.
The collaboration draws on over six years of joint efforts. Sekisui Foam International specializes in crosslinked polyolefin foams for industrial uses.
Sekisui Foam Australia, a partner since 2019, views the deal as an extension of its work in practical sustainability.
Tom Long, co-founder of TomKat, called the agreement a key milestone. He noted that it solidifies the companies’ dedication to scalable green technologies for worldwide cold chains.
Phil Cocking, managing director at Sekisui Foam Australia, highlighted how KoolPak integrates digital features with waste minimization.
He added that the system fits into broader efforts to develop earth-friendly products.
Kath Long, the other co-founder, emphasized the focus on eliminating polystyrene entirely. The partnership, she said, speeds up deployment of zero-emission options in areas like agriculture, seafood, retail, and medicine.
Dr. Angela Macdonald PSM, Australia’s Ambassador to Thailand, hosted the event and praised the initiative.
She described it as a hands-on model for international teamwork on emissions cuts and resource efficiency, aiding both commerce and environmental health.
This move supports TomKat’s Series A funding round, aimed at fueling worldwide growth. The firm holds a strong intellectual property base and growing ties with transport and food players.
Earlier announcements outlined intentions to establish Thai operations.
The global cold chain packaging sector reached US$27.4 billion in 2023, with annual growth exceeding 10%. TomKat anticipates the supply chain will address surging needs in this space.
In related developments, recent industry shifts show similar commitments to foam innovations. For instance, a new initiative in the Middle East has introduced biodegradable liners for perishables, cutting plastic waste by 40% in trials across Gulf ports.
This echoes the push for regional adaptations in high-heat climates, where traditional foams often fail.
Experts project such technologies could handle up to 20% more volume in exports by 2027, driven by stricter import rules on non-recyclables.
