The machine features a tilting paper carriage that operates in an upward motion, reducing paper usage and minimising folds

UK – Yorkshire Packaging Systems has launched a new semi-automatic turntable machine designed for paper-based pallet wrapping, allowing forklift loading while integrating a glue dispenser into a single unit.
This setup streamlines operations by tilting the paper upward during application, which cuts down on material use and reduces creases.
In a statement, YPS managing director Glyn Johnson said the company now offers equipment that handles paper alongside traditional stretch wrap options, giving warehouse teams flexibility in resource management.
He noted that the compatible paper remains uncoated and boasts high recyclability as a secondary material, requiring only minimal glue without additional items like edge protectors.
A recent EUMOS test demonstrated that pallets wrapped in this paper system showed 30% less deformation under 0.5g force compared to those using plastic stretch wrap.
The paper also guards against sun damage to enclosed products, making it suitable for irregularly shaped items such as sacks, bottles and boxes.
Johnson further explained that the team’s focus on sustainable machinery and materials helps customers advance toward environmentally sound supply chains.
The machine eliminates the need for secondary packaging, simplifying recycling processes.
As part of broader sustainability initiatives, YPS announced in March 2025 a commitment to reach net zero emissions by 2035.
This includes installing a 111-kilowatt solar roof at its Brighouse headquarters in West Yorkshire, expected to save 24 tons of carbon emissions annually.
The project also doubled roof insulation to lower heating demands, aiming for greater self-sufficiency in electricity.
In June 2025, the company began stocking a polyethylene flexible film with 98% recycled content for shrink wrapping and bagging.
This material holds certifications from the Recycled Plastic Product scheme and Italy’s Plastic Second Life institute, verifying its supply chain traceability and quality.
According to YPS sales director Rachel Gibson, this positions the firm to guide clients on reducing material consumption through integrated systems.
Additionally, in May 2025, YPS supplied three fully automatic L-sealers and heat shrink tunnels to a pharmaceutical manufacturer, upgrading outdated lines to improve pack consistency and speed.
The pre-programmed features ensure accurate settings for various products, enhancing production efficiency.
