The proposed collaboration will focus on deploying scalable waste management infrastructure, sharing technical expertise, and building local capacity.

KENYA – Zoomlion Ghana Limited, a flagship waste management company under the Jospong Group of Companies (JGC), is strengthening its pan-African expansion through a new strategic partnership in Mombasa, Kenya.
This move is part of the company’s broader mission to provide sustainable waste management solutions across the continent while creating jobs and advancing environmental resilience.
During a working visit to Mombasa on July 2, 2025, Jospong Group’s Executive Chairman, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, held high-level discussions with H.E. Abdullswamad Sherrif Nassir, Governor of Mombasa County.
The discussions centered on fostering a long-term partnership to address the region’s pressing sanitation challenges and unlock socio-economic opportunities.
“Our mission is to turn Africa’s sanitation challenges into engines of opportunity and growth. Africa is ready, and Mombasa is a key partner in this transformative agenda,” said Dr. Agyepong.
The proposed collaboration will focus on deploying scalable waste management infrastructure, sharing technical expertise, and building local capacity.
Zoomlion’s model, already successfully implemented in Ghana and several other African countries, is designed to promote inclusive green growth through job creation, youth engagement, and circular economy initiatives.
Governor Nassir expressed strong interest in the partnership, citing Zoomlion’s successful projects across the continent.
He emphasized the need for practical, impact-driven solutions that not only address current waste issues but also lay the groundwork for long-term environmental sustainability in Kenya.
As part of the Africa Expansion Project, Dr. Agyepong also met with Dr. Deborah Mlongo Barasa, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, in Nairobi.
The session focused on integrating Zoomlion’s model into Kenya’s environmental management strategies, particularly its Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework.
Dr. Barasa welcomed the partnership and emphasized the government’s commitment to private-sector-driven green growth.
A follow-up technical session is scheduled with the Ministry and the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) to explore areas of collaboration, especially in recycling, waste-to-energy, and public awareness.
The Kenya initiative adds to Jospong Group’s growing continental footprint, which includes waste and sanitation projects in countries such as Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Zambia.
With over 60 subsidiaries in sectors ranging from environment and sanitation to ICT and agribusiness, the Jospong Group is positioning itself as a pioneer of scalable, African-led solutions for sustainable development.
Zoomlion’s entry into Kenya is a major step forward in addressing urban waste challenges while supporting local development goals and contributing to the African Union’s Agenda 2063 vision of a clean, green, and sustainable continent.
