The project is expected to enhance overall line throughput and production rates.

USA – Cascades, a leading manufacturer of sustainable packaging and hygiene products, has announced a substantial investment of over US$2.54 million to modernize its Kingsey Falls tissue plant in Québec, Canada.
The upgrade, targeting a critical converting line, is set to optimize the bathroom tissue packaging process and significantly enhance productivity.
According to company officials, the project will boost the converting line’s production rate by 8% compared to current levels, improving both availability and operational speed.
This enhancement is expected to streamline overall line throughput, enabling Cascades to meet growing demand in the residential hygiene solutions market.
The Kingsey Falls facility, operational since 1977, remains a cornerstone of the company’s operations, serving households across North America with sustainable tissue products.
In a statement, Cascades President and CEO Hugues Simon emphasized the strategic importance of the investment:
“This upgrade at our Kingsey Falls tissue plant will expand our capacity and solidify our role as a trusted partner for our customers. This US$3.5 million investment reflects our ongoing dedication to growth and operational excellence.”
The investment comes at a time for Cascades, which has been refining its operational framework to strengthen its market position.
Earlier this year, the company announced the closure of its Niagara Falls, New York, corrugated medium production site, with operations set to cease by September 3, 2025.
The facility, capable of producing 200,000 short tons annually, had already decommissioned a second production unit in 2023.
This shift allows Cascades to focus resources on high-performing sites like Kingsey Falls, optimizing its manufacturing network.
Recent developments indicate Cascades is also exploring innovative packaging solutions to further its sustainability goals.
A report by industry observers highlights the company’s launch of compostable and recyclable packaging technologies, which have received certifications for environmental performance.
